Note: Civic Models interoperability

All 10th Civic hoods should be compatible between all models - Hatch, Sedan, Coupe with the following exception:

The FK8 Civic Type R (CTR) hood latches are located in a different position ... and while FK8 hoods should "fit" FC/FK vehicles... the user would need to address the latching in some way. This may require engineering/fabrication to the latch or latch mechanism and/or use of additional hood pins. Any modification will not be supported by manufacturers. Recommend users follow all manufacturer guidance at all times.

Also, note that hood pins may be required equipment on some aftermarket hoods, if they do not have the structural integrity to retain the hood via the hood latch alone. (e.g. If the latch rips out of your carbon hood while you are doing 70mph on the highway, bad things may happen...) Again you should follow all guidance provided by each manufaturer - manufacturers will document whether hood latches are sufficient or not.

I would guess one of these ...

1. They are dealing with the latch

e.g. Tony Castillo on YouTube shared about how he had his mechanic modify his latch (on on FK8 hood) ... I believe they moved it backwards an inch, and some small tweak to the Honda latch mech. Here's his discussion on this:

2. They ditched the latch and just use hood pins, like Aerocatch

Like you could probably literally remove the latch entirely and just go pins.
if you did that, then I would suggest the LOCKABLE Aerocatch model with keys,
because when you remove the latch nothing stops someone opening your hood.
This may not matter if you are building a track-only car.

3. They are using a "replica" Varis-style hood that was designed for the FC/FK rather than FK8

i.e. not the real deal

Yes, you have observed that the lock attached to varis is too fine. I measured the original factory data and asked my friend's factory to customise the titanium lock to solve the problem that the hood is not tight enough after installation.

I gave him the lock of varis. The bottom titanium plate is made of the finished product by laser cutting. The diameter of the cylinder is the same as that of oem. The titanium column is finished by bending, and the tail is fixed by screw, which is convenient for adjusting the length.
