It seems that my video of the issue is no longer playing. If you check the comments, that is the shop foreman of a Honda Dealership saying it's the BOV making that noise.

So hey guys and gals, I'm trying to get some data together about our Type R's. If everyone could fill this out only once, that would be great. I'll release some data at the end, but in the mean time I left it open so you can see the data when you get done...
Yeah well my shop foreman told me it was the BOV. I guess he thinks im a complete moron. I dont think its either of those things because it occurs only on upshifts.
I read that these are both signs of a bad clutch but my clutch feels pretty fine to me. Very rarely (once a month or two) I will try to shift into 3rd and it won't grind but simply refuse to go. It will keep kicking the shift knob into neutral until I let it sit in neutral for a second before...
ok thats so cool. great explainantion, and very good to know that I shouldn't have to worry about too much carbon build up. Does this defeat the need of a catch can? Does the injector spray on both the intake and exhaust valve?
I really want to believe you but you said "spraying tiny ammounts of fuel on valves to wash away deposits. That simply is not possible in a DI engine. Hence direct injection. The tops of the valves dont see any gas. I don't know where you are getting this?
What sucks is that you lose value later down the road when you want to sell because it's been in a crash. I also think that paint not heated like it is in the factory won't last as long and isn't as resistant to rust.
I was told it was the bov and then that none of the techs could hear it. I'm at a loss because I don't want anymore techs driving the car and I have it on video. I'm sure it's a heat shield or clutch line vibrating.
Went in on may 6th. shop foreman was not in. Quality control manager drove the car. Went back the next day and drove with the foreman. Couldn't replicate it enough for him to hear it. The only person that has heard it was one of the techs I went with the week before. Still trying to figure it...
