So I recently just installed a Sony XAV-AX100 Stereo Receiver in my 2016 Honda Civic LX, I purchased the setup with the harness pre-wired by Crutchfield with the Metra Axxess Boxes. I could not get the receiver to operate with the steering wheel control switches or get the rearview camera to show up on the receiver as well. After talking to Axxess about the issue in regards to the SWC box they stated that since the car was made in Canada from Honda, that the wiring is a bit different. The solution to this issue is you will need to cut 3 wires going into the 12 pin connector to SWC box as follows ( GREY W/Red Stripe), (BLUE W/Pink Stripe), (SOLID PINK). After cutting the wires tape off the ends or shrink wrap them separately. Turn back on the ignition and Reset the SWC Box for 3 seconds and let it program and should work. Note* the Bluetooth buttons will not opperate unless in a call.

As far as the camera this part was a bit of a test method and reading the forums. From the Axxess Nav box, you will need to cut the Dark Green W/ Purple Stripe from the 12 pin connector to the Nav box. Following that I stripped the wires and ran it through the drivers side kick plate to the Reverse light wire and tapped the Lime Green wire in the corner. This should fix your issue if your vehicle is not registering any video feed or even your car being placed into reverse. This method also only operates the camera when in reverse as it should.

Figured i would just post these seeing that I have not seen any solutions to the issues i had and might help someone trying to install an aftermarket receiver and same them about ten hours of a headache.

The stock radio is junk at best.... it freezes up if you try to do too much on it at one time ( stream Spotify, google maps through android auto and then ask Google to send a text message) :(

Yes but the stock LX radio has even less...none of the capabilities you list... nothing but a glorified MP3 player. The worst part is the audio...no bass response, killed by the DSP. The Sony XAV-AX100 is what I'm looking at to improve the audio plus bring all the other capabilities of the higher end stock stereo.

What you are effectively saying is that your Computer Monitor is junk, because it's video keeps freezing up when your are doing too much on your computer, and your computer freezes up.

When you run Android Auto, your Honda unit is just the Display (and Touch screen) -- the Apps are running on your phone. If it is FREEZING its because your Smartphone is not up to running all those apps ( and streaming) to the Honda Display,

So it's time for a new Faster SmartPhone, not a replacement Honda Infotainment Unit.

SCOPESYS - You couldn't be more wrong. The head unit is being more than just a glorified computer monitor. I can say with confidence that my smartphone is much more powerful than that head unit, which is running an antiquated version of Android (Jellybean).

Wrong, based on what other information ??

You Smartphone may be more powerful than the Honda head unit, but that does not make me "Wrong"

Never mind .. instead, I will wish you all the best with your Sony XAV-AX100 and wait your posts of Joy and Excitement when you have it installed, and can tell us all about how much better it is (not).

For Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_Auto#Functionality

The most common way Android Auto is deployed is via an Android mobile device running the Android Auto app, acting as a master to a vehicle's dashboard head unit that supports this functionality.[1] Once the user's Android device is connected to the vehicle, the head unit will serve as an external display for the Android device, presenting supported software in a car-specific user interface provided by the Android Auto app.[1][2] In Android Auto's first iterations, the device was required to be connected via USB to the car.[3]

SCOPESYS - The apps do run on the phone, however, the CPU in the head unit still has to process the bits that are being sent to it so that the information could be delivered to the screen. You are wrong based on the information that the head unit is visibly frozen up and my phone is not. Couldn't get any simpler than that. Don't butt your head into a topic you apparently know little about. If you are all in love with the head unit then stay out of the conversation, because this conversation was apparently not meant for you.

arhncmh - I was thinking that maybe a more up-to-date operating system may help depending if the hardware of the head unit can support it.

I seem to have hit a nerve :fear:

Actually, I ( and Wikipeia) would seem know more about it than you will ever know, so there is little point to trying to have any sort of technical discussion with you.

Go purchase the Sony XAV-AX100 .. if you think it will solve all your problem

And where do you get off telling me where I can post or not -- you are not even the OP !

Now you ask :) What do you think ?

Lets just say, more than enough to know that "Update it then ..." is the most ridiculously realizable suggestion I have ever made in this CivicX forum (or any other similarly technically related forum - or BBS) :)

That's the thing with Internet Forums -- you never know who you are really communicating with, and if you assume, you can be very mistaken.

My head unit freezes all the damn time with no phone plugged into it. I've experienced slowness with Android auto but that's something different all together.
