Hello,

I'm thinking of swapping out the factory tires 235 40 18 to 225 40 18 and wanted to see if anyone has done this and if they notice any change in the ride?

I have a 17 HB sports touring.

Thank you,

-D

Why?

Less lateral grip, less sidewall cushioning, a little "stretch" to leave the lip exposed to scrapes,... sounds like a lose-lose-lose idea to me.

yeah BarracksSi is right, if anything, you can fit 245/40/18 instead

The reduced diameter will improve acceleration and response, especially if you go for a lighter rim.
If you do your research you may find 225 tires that are grippier and/or wider on the contact patch than some 235s.
Weird thing, when going from 235 to 245 on my other car I was surprised to find that the 245s didn't look as good, contrary to my expectations.

Thanks all

I stuck to stock size and got some Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS. only a couple hundred miles but I'm liking them so far.
