Very interesting. I don't know enough about it to have a strong opinion on Brexit but there is no doubt it would really hurt the Swindon area if Honda had to leave because of it.

Never underestimate the power and obsession with people voting for their party over county at all costs, even if it costs them harm such as loss of jobs. Brexit is a great example.

I'm still not sure how the UK is coming out ahead with Brexit. They literally have to renegotiate all their trade and diplomatic deals and they lost the economic backing of the combined EU. What exactly do they have to leverage?

when is the hatchback being moved to a different plant other than england? it would help with getting inventory to the usa a lot faster.

That isn’t confirmed, just a hypothetical.

Yeah I'm genuinely curious how quickly/slowly Honda could add the hatchback to production lines in the Canadian factories. The inventory for hatchbacks is still pretty spotty for most of my local dealerships.

We genuinely don't know whether it was mostly a tooling cost choice to leave hatchback production UK only, or if there really isn't enough capacity in Canada.

It's also tough to guess who profitable an imported hatchback would be in the EU, as they're still the bigger consumer than the US. Doesn't matter if production continues if taxes/tarifs make it un-competitive in their markets anymore.

just like here; the right-wing media convinced the British people to vote against their own interests.

this post ought to start a fire.

The US lines are working at capacity, even with overtime, so before the hatch moves here, it would take at least a few years, probably well into the next generation of Civic... but if it's gonna go anywhere, I'd say HCM1 in Alliston ON (Worldwide lead plant for the Civic)
