Lowering gear knob by making more thread

Hi all,

I have a new gear knob on the way, I have a thread making tool at home, and wondered if anyone has lowered the shift knob by adding more thread? Also, what size is the thread?

Lol "Old School" this was a common practice in the 70 & 80s. We didn't have short shifter options back then.

i saw the Acuity Poco it looks pretty cool it lower the know a fair bit just by the way they drill them...AND it comes with a matching boot retainer, i think i'll order one soon.

True.. I was looking to order the 2020 shifter mechanism, as it seems to sit lower. I have the S2000 Titanium knob on the way, not sure high that will sit.

there are some ppl who has done it before. I remember seeing it on this thread.

another option is like you said, the 2020 shifter. Its just a tad shorter vs the early gens.
