Last Saturday my key decided to disconnect with my car and none of the exterior touch functions worked. Fortunately I was aware of the actual key that is contained within the remote. That allowed me to enter the car. The start button worked but a message appeared on the dash saying to hold the remote near the Start Button to I guess pair it back again.
Make sure you know how to access your actual key. I know people that are unaware of it.
