Got a new Civic today with standard 17" wheels and Michelin 235/45 tires. according to the slip in the door frame, correct tire pressure (for this tire size) is 2.2 bar

I checked the tire pressure now, and it reads 3.1 bar

Except for being able to sell a new set of tires very fast, what is the idea of putting so much air in the tires? Should I leave the tires with 3.1 or should I deflate to 2.2?

Regards, Lars.

deflate to 2.2
I think from the factory it comes with that much air for transport. Whoever did the inspection on your car didn't check it. you would also need to recalibrate your tpms

Funny... when I mailed the dealer, he replied that I can deflate to 2.6-2.7 bar

No explanation why not the recommended 2.2
