I have the sonic gray pearl version of the sport hatch and thought yellow calipers would look kinda cool. I don't really find the need to spend loads of money for a BBK as I don't track the car and can't justify the money for street use. My question is: should I paint the stock calipers yellow...
Yep, opted for those as they will give me more consistent power and a fun sound. I'm pretty much going to go FBO minus the down pipe because I don't want to worry about emissions or too much sound.
Curious to where you got your numbers. 27WON in an email said the W1 with a tune provides a "~35-40HP bump and about ~20 - 25TQ". Are those numbers coming from the bolt-ons of going fbo?
Thank you all for your responses, the tune certainly seems like the way to go. With the tune and maybe an intake and/or inter cooler, would the power be enough to where I would need to upgrade my clutch?
I was thinking of doing these upgrades while I still have the warranty for more fun. So I have nothing to worry about if I get it installed correctly? Just don't want to get a transmission problem, engine failure or anything like that blamed on an aftermarket exhaust + tires and wheels. When...
Just wondering if a new cat back exhaust, tires or wheels would void my warranty at all. I am aware it has to be connected but I don't see how any of these mods could cause engine failures. Thanks!
What would be the best way to go about raising the power of my hatchback sport CVT?
1) W1 turbo + full bolt-ons
2) Phearable 1.5 Race Tune + intercooler + maybe intake
The W1 with a custom tune should net around 215-220HP and 197-202TQ. This path would have much more torque room to play with...
Outside of tuning, would things to make it sound better like an exhaust be rushing it? I was looking into it and so far I've seen alot about the Greddy and Borla. Any reccomendations?
Totally understand. I'm going to tune the car and get done a few cosmetic mods before I do anything. I'm just trying to get a sense of things as this will be a project over a long period of time. Do you think I should learn how to do additions myself before I get anything done?
This helped a lot. Out of a cold air intake, downpipe (or dp+fp combo), intercooler, exhaust, turbo upgrade, and lowering suspension, do you know which mods are easy enough to do it myself rather than paying labor costs (keeping in mind I know absolutely nothing).
Would I need to get a custom tune after every mod such as a downpipe, intercooler or exhaust? In addition could I just go to any tuner near me that works with CVT's instead of someone like John or Derek?
So basically, the custom tune I get will just reprogram the ECU to support the power of the turbo upgrade, right? Meaning, each tune I add to the car whether it is a TSP, Phearable, or custom will just overwrite the last tune, correct? Additionally, I was wondering what the custom tune would be...
The upgraded turbo is a route I will eventually do, just not soon. Can you explain the difference between hp and whp? I'm also still a little confused on what is meant by a tuner with CVT experience. Do you mean I would need a professional tuner for a turbo upgrade?
So could I run a Phearable tune with a KTuner up until the point at which I get an upgraded turbo? Also, when I reach that point, would the custom tune I guess "overwrite" the Phearable? And is there any purpose of the KTuner once I get a custom tune or is the custom tune using the KTuner. About...
If I get the Phearable Ktuner tune, once I tune the the stock car, do I have to tune it every time I make an upgrade to it? Like, if I added a downpipe would I have to tune the car to fit with that and so on with things like exhausts and an upgraded turbo. Also, when you said "You can go with...
