yes there are quite a number of things I have planned for the car but Hondata + tune should be the next sizeable purchase. I was thinking of doing the Hybrid racing short shifter as well but I need to chill with the amount of money I've been putting into the car

Good job man. I like how you included that you realized how much money you put in and should chill a bit. The way it sits now is pretty good but I do agree that a tune will be the icing and cherry on top.

yeah lol thank you. I even told myself that I wouldn't start looking at performance stuff until later later but when all my type R friends were parting out and hooking me up I couldn't refuse.

I don’t blame you. I’ve saved some $$$ getting a PRL catted DP from a fellow Type R owner.

Haven't done much to the car except put miles on it lmao.

I did get some Alla Lighting reverse LED lights bc I swear the stock bulbs did nothing.
Pretty easy install, 2 8mm screws off the taillights and boom you're done.

I can see a lot more in the reverse camera now + curbs when backing up in dark areas.

Here is my car next to some of my co-worker's!

Tim's GR Corolla still makes the FK8 seem so big.

Kenny recently got the hyper suede seat covers for his car and the black covers make the interior make it so much more lowk. (Not pictured bc of sun visor) SGP loojs so different all the time...

0.5 on the iPhone 14 Pro makes the car look even bigger. Haha this is my dad's latest pickup tho.
R33 Veilside GTR. Pretty cool to drive, RHD in a normal car makes me feel like I'm learning how to drive all over again but I have to shift with my left hand.

Went to Streets of Willow with VTEC Club on 11/3/23 and had a great time!
I think now I have a real understanding (or at least scratched the surface) of the Type R can do and how much I can improve as a driver to extract more time. When I watch my laps around streets its crazy to think that the car was doing what I wanted it to do and I feel that because its such a good car it made up for a lot of my inexperience on track.

I really want to drive the car more. Here's to more track days in 2024! (^^)b

hahaha was too good to pass up on OfferUp!
Hybrid Racing Adjustable Short Shifter (HYB-SAS-01-36)

Previous owner got rid of his CTR before he had the change to install this so basically brand new!
That one track day has me spending money on parts again.

Still need to get this thing tuned, then maybe I'll do the Spoon Rigid Collars + rear sway bar next?
Going deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole... (b^_^)b

Since I have so much time on my hands nowadays, decided to follow a YT guide on how to install the Hybrid Racing SS.

Taking out the center console was a pain with the 4 retention clips on the wiring harnesses but once I got them it was fine.I struggled a lot with the shifter cables because the YT guide I was following didn't know about the locking piece on the cables that you needed to depress before turning them counter-clockwise to get them out. Watched another video and they were out!

Overall the install wasn't bad, it did take me some time with the clips and cables. but hey at least its in now I guess. The throws feel a lot better, 5th and 6th will probably take some getting used to. I take the car to the track this Sunday (12/10/23) and I guarantee I'll still be slow. (b^_^)b

Here are some of the photos I remembered to take while doing the install and the completed product.

I have not been good about updating this build journal haha.
Since I last made the update about the Hybrid short shifter there has been a couple things done to the car (Nothing crazy) and a lot more miles put on...

I've done 2 more track days since the last update. A couple weeks after the Hybrid SS install I went out to get more seat time at Buttonwillow with some old co-workers and his friends. My goal for the day was sub 2:10 and I was about to get a 2:09 by session 3 or 4. I was happy I achieved my goal but sad that my day ended a little early bc I ran out of gas on session 5. Unfortunately they ran out of 91 at the track but luckily Stubz had some 91 in his truck!

The knob I always wanted had a shock drop so I managed to snag that up before I left for Japan.(Battle Craft Parts Hyper Tear Drop 44mm)

Honda Civic 10th gen ryyanjayy's 2021 FK8 Type R Build #43043 1707629036748

I returned from Japan with no parts for the FK8 unfortunately :(
But I immediately had another track day with Dog House at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Since the track was so far I decided to trailer the car there, also because my mom, her dog, and my girlfriend were coming along to be my cheerleaders. I was more nervous about trailering the car for4 hours than driving on a new track with close to 0 sim practice.

CVR CCW config was so so fun. Kinda scary with 2 blind turns because of the inclines but I still had a really good time and can't wait till I'm back there again. My goal was similar as BW, gunning for a sub 2:10 but this time I did not meet it. My fastest was a 2:12 that I got black flagged for LOL. (The track director wanted my wristband cut but I received a stern warning and kept on going for the day) I got to bring my gf in the car and she had a blast but was scared at the same time haha.

I thought the Hybrid SS would be stiffer(?) I don't know what I was expecting but I've read a lot about the Hybrid detent springs that should improve that feeling so I went ahead and picked those up for $20. I only installed the L/R spring so far since it didn't require me to take out the battery tray and its so cold to be working on the car rn. I'm honestly just chasing the notchy-ness of my dad's 2021 911 Turbo S but the CAE shifter might be the only way to get there...

Lastly since I want to drive the car on track more this year I decided to invest in another set of wheels specifically for the track. Came up on a crazy deal for Advan TC4s in 18x9.5 +38 with 265/35 Apexes (with 60-70% life) for $1500, albeit 3 wheels have rash but I'll be fixing that soon enough. I might run these for the dailies just bc the tires have so much life in them and I want a 200TW for the track. So the RSIIIs might still be on track duty for a bit. But at the same time I think I want some change so these will be that for me.

Not too keen on SGP on black wheels so I might have these refinished in bronze or something later down the road.

Much excite for 2024. My plan for this year is to develop as a driver and have the car develop alongside me and only make improvements to the car once I improve as a driver so I can feel those incremental changes. (But damn do I want a racebred splitter and its on sale rn) (´ω`*)

Got around to installing the SUMA LED Sequential Mirror Turn Signals. Although the change is very minimal I figured I would do all the little things with this car

Whenever a car catches my eyes nowadays its because of all the little details so that's my excuse for spending money on parts that don't have a crazy impact on the car but the devil is in the details I guess?

Below is a video of what it looks like in the day.

Here is a side by side comparison of the OEM (Left) vs SUMA (Right). I do enjoy that the SUMA lights are a lighter than the OEM lights.
