If I go up from 40 to 45 (235/40/18 to 225/45/18) will there be any rubbing or other negative effects?
Thanks!

It should fit fine as far as heights concerned. It probably won't be much larger than stock and I'm not sure what a 225 will look like on the wheel. Why are you trying to get a taller tire?

I just got a flat yesterday. The tire was infixable so I got a used 225/45/18 tire just so I could get the car home since it didn't have a spare. Just ordered a new one in the correct size but the 225 fits fine I can take a pic if you'd like? It doesn't look as good as the 235 cause I feel like the wheel sticks out more

Someone is selling some very cheap Re71r tires and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to the thinner, higher profile tire

Your SPEEDO will be a bit off. if you care. a tire calculator will tell you by how much.

I wouldn't go any skinnier IMO. If your wheel ever encounters a curb you will regret having any skinnier tires...

I put skinnier tires/rims on my SI and its more than fine. 225/40 18

Solid as can be IMO. zero wobble or weirdness (dry and wet conditions alike, and soon enough lots and lots of snow).

If it helps, I ran the sizes you wanted through a tire calculator

My Note: for what its worth I considered this size for my tire but found there wasn't a great answer to an alternative size tire to the 235/40/18 that I could find. In the end I chose 225/40/18 because it was a more common size tire, the tire I wanted came in that size, and its closer to the original SPEEDO reading. But its still not quite the same size.
