Anytime you turn the HVAC on full auto, the air conditioner compressor runs. Doesn't matter if it's 30 degrees outside and you're trying to get heat.I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this
Yeah, it's just annoying as hell that even when I turn the HVAC system off entirely after running it without the AC, the AC comes back on with the heater the next time I turn the system on. So annoying in a car with the worst infortainment lag ever. Mine literally takes like 5 seconds some times.Anytime you turn the HVAC on full auto, the air conditioner compressor runs. I'm not sure exactly why they designed it this way, but it's a variable capacity compressor that will only work as hard as it needs to given the conditions.
I find it extremely useful when it's cold and humid, as I hate running the defrost/defog cycle constantly to keep the windows clear. By turning it on full auto it still has a dehumidifying effect but without running the AC compressor full blast.
It means my AC compressor always comes on when I turn on the heater even using just the fan button, then I have to go into the infotainment system and turn the AC off.I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this
That's a bit odd. I noticed the AC going back into auto mode after being turned off but only once a week or less frequently. I hadn't tied it to any specific circumstance. I'll have to keep an eye on it and see if it happens when I turn the system off and on.Yeah, it's just annoying as hell that even when I turn the HVAC system off entirely after running it without the AC, the AC comes back on with the heater the next time I turn the system on. I don't even mean using the "full auto" feature. If I get in my car and turn the fan on (lets say I was previously only using the heater), the AC will automatically come on and then I have to turn it off.
I think I should clear it up, I may have given you guys the wrong impression. If i'm using the heat without the AC and turn the heater off and immediately turn the heater back on, it works as it should. It's when I wait a long time or when I'm using the HVAC system for the first time after starting the car. Hope that clears it up a bit... I admit, I probably made it seem like it always happens. That's a bit odd. I noticed the AC going back into auto mode after being turned off but only once a week or less frequently. That would bug me too no end. I went and played with mine, the ac doesnt come on at all unless deliberately turn it on. Or at least i couldn't trick it into turning on.I think I should clear it up, I may have given you guys the wrong impression. lol, lucky. It really is annoying. That would bug me too no end. I went and played with mine, the ac doesnt come on at all unless deliberately turn it on. Or at least i couldn't trick it into turning on.
It's possible that it automatically turns on periodically like we've both noticed in order to keep all the AC system parts and seals lubricated and prevent it from degrading due to lack of use for long periods.I think I should clear it up, I may have given you guys the wrong impression. While that sounds logical, I'm talking like 90% of the time. It's possible that it automatically turns on periodically like we've both noticed in order to keep all the AC system parts and seals lubricated and prevent it from degrading due to lack of use for long periods.
Yes, the infotainment system was the worst part of the car. My 9 year old Lexus has a better infotainment system. Although outdated, it turns on instantly, connects to my phone instantly and never looses the connection, streams flawless from my phone, and the touchscreen does not lag. I'm going to swap out the controller with a third party unit that modernizes it and adds Android auto ($800).Yeah, it's just annoying as hell that even when I turn the HVAC system off entirely after running it without the AC, the AC comes back on with the heater the next time I turn the system on. The A/C may be turned on when the climate controls are in automated mode, or should turn on when you use the windshield defroster, but if you manually control them, you can just turn off the A/C in the climate menu. Regardless of whether or not you switch back and forth between auto and manual adjustments, the A/C status should always stay off when in manual mode if it was off beforehand. If it's still on in manual adjustment mode, go to the climate menu and check its status. If it's not showing either ON or OFF enabled, this is normal as well when returning to manual mode -- but tap OFF and listen for it to turn off.Is the AC supposed to come on every time you turn on the HVAC system? It's really annoying.

If it does not turn off in manual mode when you select OFF in the climate menu, there is probably something wrong with the system.
