Going to try 5/30 for my 1st oil change. It is an option in the printed manual if 0/20 in not available and we all know that the 0/20 if for the fuel economy ratings not better protection, especially in the turbo.
The manual says to use 0W-20 in the engine.

It also says you can temporarily use 0W-20 or 5W-20 in the transmission.

Also, some "light reading" written by Honda engineers about low viscosity oil is attached for your pleasure (and education). :)

Same car in Europe says 0w30 and 5w30 can also be used, same engine. And Honda engineers will say what they are told, we know what 0w20 was designed for.....CAFE standards, 0w16 and lower are already out.......

It's 90 degrees here now so 5w30 will be going in next week, in October/november I'll do another change back to 0w20, 2 changes a year for me. You know what a turbo does to 0 weight oil? It's not good and Honda synthetic oil is NOT group 4 or 5, it's refined hydrocracked group 3 oil with a high additive package, minimum requirements.

It is 90 here in Atlanta. 0-20w will not cut it, especially a turbo car. I might switch back to 0-20w in the winter but it never gets that cold. I will use Liqui Moly Molygen 5w-30. And maybe a bottle of Cerratec.

Yep. And they flow better cold. Most engine wear happens when it starts cold. That's why I'd tend to err with a 0w. If you want thicker overall grade oil... so be it.

Again... the main thing I was providing was an established thread that talked about 0w-30... which I figured might have some pertainent data. The main thing is wanting to go up to a 30 weight oil. In a synthetic, the 0w to 5w is pretty minor... though it'll make a much bigger difference in a conventional when cold.

I leave it to you. I have no interest in getting in an oil debate... as that subject holds little interest to me. I can tool around BITOG until my eyes bleed if I want to torture myself.
Just got Motul 300V HIGH RPM 0W20 has anyone used it and if yes is this oil has a longevity of a traditional synthetic oil?

No idea. I'm not an oil guy... I was just passing info on a much larger similar thread for info to the OP.

I'm not much of an oil snob. I have done a lot of reading in years past and am satisfied with my conclusion I made years ago to buy the oil at the viscosity the manufacturer recommends and change at whatever maintenance period they specify. I could do something different/more but I don't. I always buy on sale and hold to no brand.

If the oil you bought is touted as some low sheer racing oil for high RPM applications... it should be well underutilized in our sub-7000 RPM engines. It oughta be just fine.

Recommendation is to do a search on BITOG as they may have some UOAs/reviews/quantifyable data for it. Otherwise, you've just got another oil where... when you look at the back of the jug it claims to do great things... that your car will last 100s of thousands of miles... and likely a guarantee of sorts. Just like every other oil.

That is some awesome oil, a local tuner uses Motul exclusively.

Of course I can't find it right now but the 1.5 can use 0w2, 0w30 and 5w30 depending on ambient temp and what you really want for fuel economy.

Owners manual for Europe, same engine used there and they have much higher oil standards than we do in the US. PLEASE don't say they have a different 1.5t, same inside but harder to find 0w20 there from what I can find.
