Where did you mount your radar detector in your Civic Si?

    hey everyone,
I've been searching around looking for the best spot to mount my radar detector (hardwire) that's clean and out of the way.
Because it's a-Si, there's no power mirror so can't use a mirror tap for power. The cable must come from the bottom of the dash or from above. I'm tired of using the coiled 12v cord and want to hardwire it but can't figure out where it should go without getting in the way or without having wires everywhere.

so how did you install yours? pictures would help.
If you used an after market mount, which one was it?
I have a uniden R3 detector and the mounts that come with it suck FYI.

    thanks!

Blendmount makes excellent mounts that attach to rear view mirrors. They're pricey, but they're awesome. Also, keep your radar detector in the center of windshield. It doesn't work very well in other places. You can also purchase a wire hinder if you really want, which is really just a fancy piece of plastic that adheres to the windshield and holds the wire.

Take your A Pillar off, there's an 8mm bolt under the airbag sign on it. Then, just pull it towards you and it comes off. You can pull the headliner down slightly and tuck your wire in there. Down the A-Pillar, zip tie it to the wire in there, and then it'll easily be near the fuse box for hardwiring.

I just have mine sitting on the dash. Wire just runs over the dash to it. Easy to remove. Works well in that position. Escort Max.

I don’t have a power mirror in the Si so I’d have a wire dangling behind it from the top down.

I hardwired from the fuse box at the driver side kick panel. Ran the cord up the A pillar and under the headliner. Detector doesn't dip down into my field of view through the windshield and is still plenty visible and well within reach. Tucks away nicely when I need remove the detector.

Yeah I’m thinking about doing this same setup with my uniden. Not going to spend $100 on a blendmount so the suction cups above the mirror with a hardwire kit should do the trick

Hardwired like others and just used the stock suction cups from my R3. Works like a charm and hardly notice it both inside and out.
