I assumed the outside window feature was for the keyless models only. Literally took me a year to try it out! But works, and the key in the lock does up and down.
I had a 2001 S430 for a couple years before the Civic with the outside open and close feature for the windows. In Mercedes infinite wisdom they made it IR rather than RF. That meant you had to point the end of the electronic key directly at the receiver on the door handle and hope you were close enough. Of course mine was 13-14 years old at the time and didn't work consistently. I think I read that Honda only has the closing with the key to prevent accidentally closing someones finger/hand/arm in the window. Merc had pressure sensors built in to stop closing if it closed on something. Also meant if the window track was dirty it wouldn't always close all the way the first time.
I did notice today that there is an emergency trunk release in the back of the sedan. There's a small removable cover between the child seat securing point and window on the left side. Just pop that off and there's a small pull handle that pops the trunk lid. Was hoping to find a rear seat fold down release instead, rather that trying to push it down from the trunk side.
