It's pretty and is easier to hear a little more whoosh
So this isn’t a cold air intake?

I ordered a MAPerformance one because I wasn’t sure if this was one or not. Looks like I was right

Just a tube. There might be a high flow air filter swapped in

What’s the benefit of that over an actual intake if any?

I've heard that MAP's intake, while it does sound very good, has horrible thermals.
Never seen any actual logs though. I'm sure it would benefit the community if you took logs of your fuel trims and temps before and after installing and shared them here.

So it just arrived today and I haven’t touched it yet. If it’s not a good intake, I’d rather just return and not even bother.

I’m not technically sound when it comes to thermals so if you could elaborate that would be helpful.

There's two things about the MAP intake that would have me concerned:
The fact that it's made of stainless is a big one. Once that steel gets hot, you're going to notice a decline in performance due to its inability to keep the air cool.
The other (That contributes to the first point) is the filter location. Even though it is angled downwards, it's still inside of the engine bay vs. something like the PRL Cobra CAI, which locates the filter behind the driver's side fog light, ensuring that it is not pulling in hot air from the engine bay.

So based off this, sounds like I made a poor choice. I spent $270 on this and didn’t want to drop over $400 for an intake.

Are there any better CAI’s around the same price ($270)

Not really. The Cobra is the best intake for these cars. Period.
27Won's CAI is pretty good as well, but the Cobra still beats it performance-wise.

Yeah I just can’t get on board for $420 shipped for a CAI. I guess I’ll just stick with this one and see what happens lol
