It's not just octane to worry about its quality of station storage tanks and water separators etc. Sorry gas stations equate to sorry fuel no matter the brand or cost

A couple years ago I would only get Shell in my vehicles. But I had 3 friends all fill up Shell premium at 3 different stations and all 3 cars had immediate motor issues that caused permanent damage. Fortunately, they were able to prove bad gas caused the damage and Shell paid out all 3. Within our car community, we had a couple of others with the same issues and had to guide them on how to take care of it.

After that, I figured it wasn't worth the risk and have been using Chevron since. It also helps that there's a Chevron on every corner in Southern California as well. So, Chevron Premium all the way.

Is Shell the best? I normally put Shell 93 V Power Nitro+ in my vehicles.

What has the best RON/AKI rating? Does the different additives each company put in the fuel make a difference? Does it matter or is it all marketing as fuel comes from the same place?

What do you put in your vehicles? Looking forward to your input as I’d like to put only the best in my CTR.

For what it's worth, BMW has a marketing program where they recommend Shell V-Power. All name brand gasolines are essentially the same. The key difference between the name and off-brand gasolines is the addition of detergent additives. I use Shell VPower in my Ktuned (Dual/21) 10th generation. If you get the fuel rewards card (free) you get between 5 and 10 cents off per gallon at shell. If you local station does a Monday/Thursday "5 cents off day" for VPower and you use your Fuel Rewards number, that's a nice discount per gallon.

From Pennsylvania checking in here! I go to a Sheetz gas station near my work that sells E15/Unleaded88, which is 15% ethanol. I've only ever seen it at a few gas stations, but my 2017 EX-T loves that stuff. It's always 5-10 cents cheaper than 87 octane. It claims to be 88 octane, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was slightly more.

Before you get on my case about running the 'cheap fuel' let me explain why I do it. These engines have a known issue where you end up with gas in the oil. Not enough to really do any harm, but some none the less. I notice my oil has far less gas smell when I'm running the E15, so that's what I'm going to keep doing. I'd love to get an ethanol sensor and run full blown flex fuel as it's 30-70 cents cheaper than regular 87 octane, but I have to be able to pass PA emissions in my county. :bs: Pretty sure I wouldn't with the flex fuel conversion.

When there were cars parked in front of the pump for an obnoxious amount of time while they were just hanging out inside the store. :dunno:

I adapted and overcame. Lawl!

I go to Thornton’s and fill up with a 93/E85 blend for 40% ethanol. Only gas station that has E85 in my area, just sucks that it’s a good 10 miles away.

Chevron Supreme 92 always, and from the newest, busiest gas station around.
