I installed my College Hills Honda dual horn kit......goodbye "meep meep"!! While I had the lower grill off to install the horns I decided to open up some more of the diamond sections to increase airflow where it could add some cooling. I didn't want to just open them all up because I don't think that the aluminum bumper needed any cooling and I wanted to balance a cooling improvement while keeping the aerodynamic drag at a minimum. I did a mirror image on the driver's side afterwards. I cut the openings out with an Exacto knife. Tech tip : I made the cutting easier by using a rotary grinder on the backside to remove the bulk plastic. Here are some pictures and a before and after.

I basically just made the areas that I was going to be removing the sections thinner with a disc grinder so that they could be easily cut with the Exacto knife. I don't have any pictures from behind but I suppose I could take one off tomorrow and get some pictures.

Nice - r u gonna leave the cover off? well, from my car wash experience, i found that a lot of water got right onto the engine area which should be the main reason causing rusting in the right 2 spark plug area! Can you work with your vendors to come up something like a scoop plug for car washing purpose?

anyways, your car looks very good and thx for all the good product reviews.

I love the way this looks. For the cover issue the guy above spoke of, just get some plugs from auto zone or somewhere else. Just plugging the holes cuts down on the water issue a lot.

i already did that, plugged the holes above the engine but i still got a big pool of water on my engine from my last Tounchless wash - but i did spend more time in splashing my car bottom, and i am wondering if the water actually came from the bottom? becoz I didn't get that much from my previous washes though.

Thanks! That’s the dilemma I now have since I have a full CF and Kevlar engine cover coming to replace the stock engine cover. It does look better without the engine cover but then the damn spark plug packs show unlike Type R covers of the past. Honda kind of messed us up this time huh. Good thing is the engine cover is easily removed as needed with just 5x 10mm bolts.

I’ve never ever had a water issue. None of our team cars do. I’ve power washed and sprayed directly in the opening and nothing but a few drips. We’ve monitored the scoop leak that some have and concluded it’s the scoop itself around the edges. Most cars come from the factory with scoop unevenly installed. If you loosen 5 nuts underneath and adjust the scoop, that will seal properly and not leak. The opening itself goes into the channel underneath which directs water to the sides and onto the fenders by design. Check your channel underneath to make sure it’s properly aligned too on the front edge.

As for rust, I can only attribute to this. Each spark plug tube has an O-seal/gasket that goes around it which is actually installed on the valve cover itself. Check to see how the seal sits because it’s virtually impossible for water to get in if the O-seal sits slightly below the tube. You’ll see this when you remove the spark plug packs. I’ve checked all my plugs when I did this install and all dry and zero rust.

Try the above. A scoop plug is not a bad idea.

Clear Side Markers with Amber LEDs ( I did not get the blinking signals )
Which side markers did you get? What do you mean "did not get blinking signals"? Do you mean separate from the side marker? Thanks! I want to get the same type of side markers based on how that looks. Thanks

These are the side markers I got:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0C40FY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is important to note..... the wheel-well side is a bit thinner than the stock amber side markers. I was concerned with water spraying in so I patched it with black silicone and I feel much better about it now :)

Some side markers have wires to tap into the turn signal. These do not have the wire to tap into the turn signal.

It is raining here today so I didn't take any pictures but I found the inserts that I cut out and took pictures of those. You can see the difference in the side by side picture.
