Negative. I've ran the same kit with my old 2003 Dodge Ram, 2011 fit, and 2015 Fit without issues/damage. Yes, I have considered a relay but after having the kit in my current car for roughly over a month now and checking the harness and other components, I saw no issues at all. including flickering. Yes I am aware of the potential damage it may cause but for the time being, I opted out of a relay and went straight ballast/plug&play.
Personally, I went 55w for brightness. 55w tends to wash out the blue tone from 5500k more than a 35w would. Looks good, is bright, haven't had any issues with it at all as previously stated.
