I'm going to swap out my halogen lows for kensun 55watt HIDS. I want to match the DRL color for a cleaner look.

Also, has anyone tried the Silvania silverstar bulbs for highs? What are your thoughts on them?

I think DRL color is 4500 or 5000 K and sylvania silverstar they have half the life of normal lights but they give more light output than standard halogen bulbs.

I have the cheapo blue tinted ebay bulbs for high beams, which IMO are similar in color to the silverstars. Here's what they look like:

In terms of color, they're not as white as the LED DRLs, but definitely looks better than the yellowish OEM bulbs. Light output is worse than OEM bulbs because they're cheap ebay bulbs and the blue tint blocks some light. You'll definitely get better output with silverstars.

I'm a little bit late to this party but I recently tested the DRLs with my SLR and they gave me a slightly warm 4600K with a moderate green cast. The LED headlights on my Touring, on the other hand, are almost a perfect match to daylight at 5300K with no green or magenta cast.

I'm also rocking the DDM Tuning Ultra HID 55w 5500k. Really close match.

It's not a "requirement", but it is highly recommended, especially if you are running a 55 watt HID conversion kit.

Using a relay harness will prevent flickering and damage to expensive factory components.

Thanks gents. I've also scoured the internet with for information on the difference between 35 watt and 55 watt as far as output goes, and it seems like a subjective matter.

What do you guys think? Is 35 good enough, especially when most of my driving is in the city?

Check out our research section for more non-bias facts about HID lighting: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/research-1.html

35 watt HID conversion kits produce plenty of usable output
