Has anyone been able to get the updated version of Viper to work? I've downloaded the APK and put it on a USB stick and while it will recognize the file, it won't allow to install from Honda Hack.

newer viper4android apps require a certain/higher android-api level.

the last official viper4android version is FX version v2.5.0.5.
thats also the last one thats working on our headunit.

i also tried installing a newer one, but no chance.
you dont miss much anyway, they have exactly the same equalizer settings.

So no way to update the API? Or even update the HU

updating the HU wont be possible for us. at least not on a newer android major version.

thats because the HU is connected to the honda interface of the car, in order to communicate with your car its using drivers & a certain software framework (= a "launcher" to control your car). it would be quite alot work to adapt that stuff to a newer major android version.

also newer android versions are way more restrictive, which makes it hard to customize it for car-usage.
honda would have to provide us drivers / source code. in order to build a new android-rom for the HU.
older android versions are easier to modify / customize.

can you link me the viper4android version that you have found? afaik 2.7 was the latest unoffical one (i have that one on my phone).
