Uncomfortable Seat?

I am a large guy, 6 feet tall and roughly 300lbs. The side walls of the seat in my civic hatch sport cut into my hips and kill. Is there a quick fix for this?

I was thinking about pulling up the seat upholstery and cutting the foam from the sides down to seat level.
