Anyone else driving through this horrendous midwest freeze? The car is running fine but it sounds like it's going to fall apart in these temps! Front suspension rattles and jiggles (sound wise) all over the place. I've never heard this much sound coming from up front on bumps in the past (when temps are higher) and I've spoke with another local owner who says they do not hear that at all.

I live in Toronto Canada where its currently -36 Celsius (-33 fahrenheit). On a cold start nothing rattles at idle but my dash does rattle at around 2k rpm for the first 2 minutes of driving (goes away after when warm). Also when going over bumps it sounds like my control arms are done(crashing and banging sounds) but as soon as it warms up it goes away.

I'm up in Guelph, ON and have been noticing bumps are louder and maybe feel a bit harsher, but I may be making that part up. Car still drives great.

I think the bushing are just stiffer and we are not getting as much isolation. Normally not a big deal but I think its just more noticeable because the car is pretty stiff and the ride get quite harsh from that. In general there are way more bushing squeaks and things clunking than I am used compare to what I used to drive(VWs) or what I am working on(GM's cars).

I get some rattles from around the dashboard on the drivers side when it's cold out. It's related to the steering column as if I move the steering wheel it goes away until I stop again. Every so often it just disappears completely.

This is EXACTLY what I’m talking about... it sounds like my control arms are shaking during hard constant bumps. Small bumps or smooth bumps... no issue. Hard aggressive repetitive bumps sound like the suspension is going to fall off. If I switch it into sport or R mode the noise is greatly reduced.

Drives perfectly fine

Off topic but my buddy sent me a pic of a Type R on the summer tires in this fucking winter .

Buys a 50k car and can’t afford $1k winter tires. Idiots

I keep getting this weird resonating frequency in 1, 2, and 3 at VERY light throttle (6-10%) at cruising speeds. When off throttle no sound. When on more throttle no sound. When in neutral and coasting no sound.

It sounds like it’s coming from under the hatch. Gotta be tied to the trans or lsd or something.

I get a dash rattle when it's cold and my car is still warming up. If I press on a certain spot near the left AC vent, it goes away.

When the car warms up after 5 min, the rattle goes away. If it never went away, it would drive me crazy because it is very loud. Since it does, I don't care.

When it's warm, i have no rattles (knock on wood).

I am not impressed with the build quality though - I just figured out my rear lip spoiler has been mis-aligned/cracked since I bought it. Now I'm trying to get Honda to do something about it.

This suspension rattle has drove me to finally take it up to the dealership tomorrow AM. It is progressively making more noise on any side to side bumps. It seems like straight up and downs do not cause the issue as much as the rocking side to side bumps do. If that makes any sense at all.

Sorta similar here but I expect that. It's still quieter and more solid than my old Acura and certainly light years ahead of my '99 Civic. Once I drive a few miles, most of it settles down. It's not horrible, and I figure it just comes with the territory when you have a well-built, but intentionally non-NVH car (at least relative to others built today) in cold weather.

I got the same suspension rattles too in Chicago temps right now. Sounds like end links are loose over bumps when cold but they are not loose. After warming up from 15 mins driving the noise goes away or settles down. When it was warmer I never heard these noises before.

Check the Si forum section, ours is there in the rear and just as bad, even on new models right off the showroom floor...like mine.

Are y’all hearing this? Been battling with Honda over 2 months now. They claim it’s normal but it’s not. Doesn’t do it on any other type r that I know of and didn’t do it first 2k miles. Stock suspension. Doesn’t matter what drive mode or temp. Cold. Hot. Same noise, same level of ambience. Low speed rough road (parking lots).
