Looking at TSP post when they first made the tune it was on 93 octanes if I'm reading it correctly. My ktuner is coming in Monday and I almost exclusively use Costco premium gas (91). Does anyone have experience running 91 on tsp stage 1 tune?

91 octane is fine. They tuned it on 93 but 93 is recommended and 91 is required. As the previous poster stated you will get better performance using 93, but you probably would not even notice the difference.

Running on TSP's stage 1 tune for a year, fuel trims and knock control were all good, even at WOT on Costco 91

Its tuned for 93, so to get optimal benefits of the tune you should use 93.
Unfortunately, California does not have 93 octane, 91 is the highest unless you go to a race track where you can get 100 octane, at $8 a gallon

In Canada, I noticed a big difference from our 91 to 94 octane. I barely pulled away from my brothers ktuner basemap on 91. On 94 it would be a different story.

Doesn’t Canada use a different formula and 94 octane in Canada is equal to the us 91?
They were using an additive called MTBE to boost the octane that is a banned carcinogen in California that was getting into the ground water. Automakers in the US are currently pushing for a 95 octane standard that would make it the new "regular", which would allow them to build more fuel efficient engines

I'm in Canada, the engine was knocking on Shell's 91, but then I switched to Petro-Canada's 94 and it was running way better. Fuel trim were better on 94 also. I suggest you to find the highest octane you can get, 93 or 94. 91 is fine, but not recommended.

My engine never knocked using Costco 91 and being tuned on TSP stage 1. K. control was a constant 0.48 or 0.49 and occasionally hit 0.51 at WOT. Also my IS350's 3.5L high compression engine recommends 93, but runs completely knock free on 91. He cannot get anything higher than 91, that is the highest octane in California

Weird, mine would get to 0.7-0.8 at WOT at times on 91.. I guess I had bad batches of gas.. On 94 its at a constant 0.48

Could be. Here is a small sample from one of my logs going WOT on a hot day

Honda Civic 10th gen TSP stage 1 octane fuel upload_2020-1-27_10-41-39

There was a small instance of .5, but not long enough to be concerning
