I am getting to the end of my stock Continentals and in the market for new tires. I will be bumping up to 255/35/20 to get a little more side wall and preferably want a tire that'll last at least 3 years (~12K-15K miles/year). Longevity seems to be in the A/S tires, so my list only shows A/S, but I am open to suggestions for Summer tires being that I'm in Houston, TX; just need good wet performance because it can go from bone dry to wet without warning here.
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 3+ A/S: $240 ($222 at Costco); 45K mile warranty - My favorite
  • Continental Extreme Contact DSW 06: $203; 50K mile warranty
  • Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S: $170; 50K mile warranty
  • General GMAX AS-05: $149; 50K mile warranty (recommended by the Tire Rack customer service...)
  • BFGoodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S: $145; 45K mile warranty

Also, Discount Tire is having a rebate sale next week for Memorial Day weekend; ~$100-150 off depending on the tires and using their credit card.

I had the BFGoodrichs on a previous car (not in 20in, but same tire) and really liked them. Ultimately it’s your money, go with what you like.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I compare my tires based on $/mi warranty. Thus:
General: $145/50,000 = $0.0032/mi
Michelin: $222/45,000 = $0.00493/mi
etc.

Of course assuming all the same ratings, size, etc.

I run the Conti Extreme Contact on my 1000+ HP Challenger and love them. I've had them on other vehicles as well, always with good results. I'll go with them on the Type R when my OEMs wear out, so I vote for those!

Anyone know how reliable the Tire Rack track test results are?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Great in the dry and in the wet. You give up too much traction in this car going with an all-season. It’s one thing if you live in a climate that requires it, but in Houston, I’d look no further than the PS4S. Granted, you won’t get 45k miles out of them, but IMHO a 45k tire is a major compromise on this car.

That's when I buy my tires at DT. If you don't need them now I suspect the next big holiday 7/4 they'll have another big sale. I usually order them on line at Discount Tire Direct and have them shipped to my house. I don't want them mounting my tires........

I have taken my car to them thrice now to get nails removed and they've been great, even with these low profile tires. I made sure that their tooling was plastic before they did anything. They also used floor jacks instead of the lifts.

I went down to 18s RPF1s 18x8.5 with continental extreme contact 245x40x18 the ride is much more comfortable but not as sporty, but it is my daily and I do not mind some of the cars sporty ride for comfort as well as its cheaper to buy those tires at that size. I bought them from sears at 150$ each.

Perhaps consider Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.

Tire Rack has 255/35/20s for $121 + shipping iirc.

Will 255/35/20 have clearance issues? I think TireRack says 26.3 " height is the limit.

I'm on the Advan Sports right now with no problems. I even had a full car tonight; wife, father-in-law, son, and myself with no issue. Haven't tested in Comfort though but understand it's fine. These Yokohamas ($160/tire) are a little underwhelming considering Discount Tire talked me out of the Continental Extreme Contact DSW 06s ($204/tire) for these. I would prefer A/S so they last a little longer than summer tires, plus we get a lot of rain here in Houston including the terrible drivers.
