I am sure there was a thread about running pressure a bit higher for tracking but I cannot find it.

What pressure should I run for track day on stock wheel/tires?

Two things to consider.

1) as above, chalking the shoulder/tread corner and monitoring for wear (roll over) is a great idea. Typically to prevent too much tire roll, you add 2-4psi (cold).

2) Tires do have a sweet spot for grip that is temp (pressure) driven. Once a tire starts to feel "greasy", it is time to bleed a little air back out.

Depending on the track, ambient temp and how hard the tires get pushed, you may find yourself adding air in the morning to get to a baseline, but bleeding air out during the day. Starting a log is a great way to larn what works and what doesn't.

Which track are you headed to?

I will start off plus 2psi and see how it goes. Will chalk the tire too, great idea.

Log book is good idea too, I have an unused lab note book I could bring. Maybe I'll make it a log book/scrap book.

Going to track ~2.5hrs from home. Will doing only morning session, 3x30min with coach onboard. Could have signed up for full day of 6 sessions but since it is first time and far from home on a Sunday I took only the morning.

Thank you both for the replies! This is the track:

I've wanted to get to Calabogie.. I've done Mosport and Mt Tremblant. I've heard Calabogie is fun (then again, most tracks are fun). Which configuraton? Full course? Partial course? Have fun! The track is a slippery slope.. from 1/2 day morning to 3 day weekends!

With stock rims/tires at Calabogie (my home track, I've been there a half-dozen times this year ...) last year I was running 38psi front / 35 psi rear with the tires cold all around. Other tracks you may want more or less pressure to start, and of course the driver has an impact as well.

Sunday is full track AFAIK.

BTW, get gas here on the way to/from the track. They have 93 E0 at half of their pumps. https://www.google.ca/maps/place/W.O.+Stinson+&+Son+Ltd./@45.4184979,-76.3796499,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x4cd18bd7b6abd665:0x28b3245130a4c40e!8m2!3d45.4184979!4d-76.3774612

Cannot wait to get to Calabogie with the Type R :) Was way too busy this summer so I'm hoping for a spring start after I fairly get my car broken in and prepped a little.
The full track is a blast. Enjoy.

Hope you had a great time - it would've been a nice cool almost-fall day so no issues with engine temps, but the tires would take some effort to get heat in them! I was at Calabogie yesterday, it was jacket weather in the evening ...
