So, I have had my Civic now for over a year now and have had nothing but a plethora of problems with it. I have always wanted a Civic, and finally was able to save up , trade in my Mustang, and get one. Over the past year it has been nothing but disappointment, after disappointment, after disappointment.

I figured I may have had a little buyers remorse, but now after only having it for about 20k miles, I have had more problems with this car than I have had with my previous 5 other cars combined ( 88 Cavalier Z24, 93 Ford Escort GT, 97 Dodge Avenger, 99 Grand Am GT, and 2015 Mustang )

Sound system is terrible. Subwoofer rattle is just incredible and I am a middle aged guy that doesnt pump the bass up at all. Certain frequencys will rattle the hell out of the car even in low volume settings.

Infotainment system - Some times my phone works, sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes Bluetooth will pick up, sometimes it wont. Try to play spotify, again..sometimes works...other times it doesnt. Side view camera mirror...sometimes it works, sometimes it wont shut off at all. Just randomly driving down the road and the camera will turn on and not go off without shutting the car off.

Remote Start...once again. Sometimes works, sometimes it doesnt. Can have clear line of sight and only be 20 ft from the car and it wont work. Other times I can be inside my apartment building..stick my key fob out the door and start my car from 200 ft away. Ended up having to buy an aftermarket remote starter...for a car that already has remote start...just to get the damn thing to be reliable.

Windshield cracked. Didnt get hit by a damn thing. There is not one mark on my windshield that would show any damage to it. Right above the rearview mirror, to the left hand side....a magic crack started at the top of the windshield and is now half way down to the passenger side now. Quick call to get it repaired left me in awe that I was quoted around $900 from Safelight due to the "rain sensing windshield" ( which seems to work in un-opportune times ) and that they were on backorder and it would be 3-4 weeks before they could even get a windshield. Also told me numerous other Civic owners are having the same issues.

Honda Sensing. No clue what causes the huge flashing "Break Now" screen to light up and car start beeping when I am on interstate at 2am with no traffic around me, but makes me nervous when it happens.

15k miles and have had all these issues, completely unacceptable. Have over 200k in my other cars combined and never had this many problems.

I have the SI (Canadian made) so no remote start and no Honda Sensing to comment on.

I have 3K KM on my car and so far, I see only a few minor issues.

1. My Bluetooth would not connect automatically. It worked since I removed SMS access in my handset. No sure if it was the issue of my handset or the headunit.

2. With my keys in my pocket, I would get rapid-beeps sometimes when I leave the car. It may be caused by interferences with my other keys and an USB drive in my keychain.

3. The armrest material is subpar. I will replace them with the leather pieces from the Touring model.

Other than these minor annoyances, the car is great. The 6MT is a hoot to drive. The side mirror camera works all the time for me.

subwoofer rattle i have. I guess not great solution as I was told it's two subframe pieces rattling together between tack welds. I'll bet a caulk of some sort to fill in the gap will fix it. I'll mess with it this spring.

The auto sensing issue could be a dirty lens over the radar or it's picking up objects on a curve or rise in the road. Any car with this tech may have issues.

Weak glass is a common issue now. Honda doesn't make the glass. All newer cars I've owned have had issue. I chalk it up to bad luck.

Keep in mind your previous list had none of these features except the subwoofer on your previous cars. I agree that issue is a huge miss by Honda. But the subwoofer placement is not typical and frees up trunk space. It's a good solution for packaging. But I prefer it located in the middle of the spare tire.

I don't hear of any major or critical issues with drivetrain or chassis.

personally it's still the best compromise of comfort, handling, acceleration, braking and features I've ever had in an size vehicle I've owned. And it gets 35-48mpg( depending on conditions) is almost like icing on the cake. Last 2 cars I've owned had had were slower and less mileage despite being luxury vehicles.

What funny, if your list of cars include some of the statistically least reliable cars ever made in the last 30 years. Guess your luck finally ran out, because 2 of those sucked up most of it. I've driven all of those vehicles too, they are some of hte biggest pieces of junk I've ever sat behind. Sorry, that my honest opinion.

"88 Cavalier Z24, 93 Ford Escort GT, 97 Dodge Avenger" I wouldn't brag about owning these cars and holding them up as esamples of well built, designed, or reliability. All 3 probably had so many chassis rattles or the overall NVH from the engine was so high you'd never notice a rattling subwoofer. :)

Sounds like you got a few known issues and a few unlucky ones on top of having an early adopter car. The sound system is a known sore spot with the rattle in many cars, hopefully honda fixes this. I've never had infotainment systems work perfectly in cars but I know the early civics had more issues than most and my current hatchback has been working almost flawlessly. Im not sure about the remote start, I haven't seen anyone have issues so far and mine works daily so maybe the dealer should have been involved with that. I wouldn't really blame honda for the windshield, they brake all the time my last car went through 2 windshields in 3 months, but yes with the new technology replacement windshields are extremely expensive which I've heard is across the board on any car.

Sorry for the bad luck man! Hope you get the issues worked out.

The only problem i have with mine is occasionally pandora doesn't work. This issue is simply negated when by restarting pandora on my phone, and then restarting the app and manually pressing play. Not a big deal.

Aside from actual issues the only thing i don't like about the car is the crappy paint and the large gaps in between panels.

The thing is this guy doesn't have a hatch, a hot hatch, cause he decided The Boston Tea Party was more of a priority.

I have a 17 Civic Touring and over 9 months of ownership I have nothing to really complain about. A few minor annoyances yes. Not in love with the auto wipers or hvac contols but they work.

Subwoofer rattle none
Sensing disabled
Remote start don't use it
Windshield crack free

I didn't get glass coverage but with the cost of these windshields, it would probably be beneficial sooner rather than later.

What I do love is the power, mileage, handling, styling, leather. led headlights, and a decent sound system.

I have owned over 20 vehicles and I'd take this Civic over any one of them. Although, a 429 Bronco still holds a spot in my heart.

Ahhh. Good old times.

Pontiac Grand AM GT
Cavalier Z24
Ford Escort GT
Ford Probe GT
Eagle Talon
Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and the FWD variety GS-T
Dodge Avenger

What happened to all these cars, oh wait. The Civic slaughtered all of them. As did the Evo and WRX in their respective flavors.

Confused. Can anyone explain about a UK assembled hatch versus anywhere else as well as what this Boston tea party reference is in regards too?

I have a 2017 6MT (Canadian) Hatchback Sport Touring, with all the bells and whistles. Only complaint is that the rain sensing wipers don’t work well. Sorry for your bad luck =\ at least you haven’t had any drive train issues.

Confused. Can anyone explain about a UK assembled hatch versus anywhere else as well as what this Boston tea party reference is in regards too?
The Hatchbacks are assembled in the UK. Maybe better quality control vs the other models?
