I replaced the transmission oil yesterday and...man I can feel the difference. I was skeptical about oil changing this much how a transmission works. I was wrong! Anyway, lets see if this oil performs as good during cold canadian winters!

The OEM fluid has always worked the best for me. Mostly because of how cold it can get in winter. I've learned to swap it out every 30k miles. Makes a world of difference.

I used GM one for 20k, and I like it.
I just changed to amsoil one last month, my 2nd gear grinds come back.
I will drain all the amsoil and switch back to GM / ACdelco next week

I've found Amsoil to be a bit stiffer/notchier than stock, so I'll be switching to the GM FM stuff this weekend. Hoping for positive stuff, but I've been pretty disappointed with this trans so far, so I'm not expecting much. My SI, even with the 2nd gear crunch, used to slide immediately into second when I shifted up from 1st. With my CTR, shifting at about 2K RPM causes me to hit a wall that, if I'm shifting at 4K RPM and up, can take almost a full second to clear. It sucks.
Have you checked the master cylinder adjustment?

ElpacoSV - can you help clear up some confusion? The part number you list and the bottle you show don't appear to be the "friction modified" version. On Amazon, here are the 2 versions:

Friction Modified (10-4014):
Amazon.com: ACDelco GM Original Equipment 10-4014 Friction Modified Synchromesh Transmission Fluid - 1 qt: Automotive

Regular? (10-4006):
Amazon.com: ACDelco 769476 GM Original Equipment 10-4006 Synchromesh Transmission Fluid - 1 qt: Automotive

I keep reading that the FM version is the one I want so I am assuming that is the 10-4014 version? Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Curious about this too. It was a popular fluid in the Mazdaspeed 3 community. That’s really a very similar platform. Turbo FWD with LSD. That car also had crunchy 2nd gear shifts at times. It was said the Ford fluid mostly cured it.

I should do this. The oem fluid is garbage. Honda MTs are notchy, clunky, crunchy transmissions.

My crz was terribel and the is the same.

Ive never owned mts like this. Between toyota, mazda, and bmw, these are the worst.

The others were always buttery smooth

Yes FM (10-4014) is the version you want.

Not compatible. Ford's fluid is a 75w-90 oil when Honda's MT requires something more along the lines of a 5w-30.

GM Synchromesh is a 5W-30 equivalent. While it doesn't say explicitly on the bottle, it is used in GM MT Transmissions that can use 5w-30 equivalent fluids like AMSOIL.

Clutch pedal adjustment + GM FM fluid has resolved my intermittent 4th gear lockout issue.

edit: the 2021 Civic owners manual states that 0w-20 and 5w-20 motor oil can be used in lieu of Honda MT fluid as a temporary measure.
