Currently I am looking for a compact spare tire and rim (donut?) Are there any recommendations on what spare I could use? Honda sells the kit that has a 17" spare even though our tires are 18".

17" spare is fine. The "rim" only has to clear the brake calipers.. and a tire is measured by its "outside" diameter.. so an 18" wheel with a small aspect ratio tire (235/40/18) has the same overall diameter as a 215/50-17. or a 125/80/17.. Plus, its just a spare - used in emergency situations.. not year round..

Buy the OEM kit that converts ur trunk into a spare tire kit.

The OEM kit does not include the tire, need to buy that separate, tire rack has at least one flavor of correct spare donut tire for about 60-70, I would not pay more, as others have said it’s a spare, only going to drive it till you get the real tire fixed/replaced.

Also possible to get one from a junk yard, others have said a Lexus donut may be the same size and bolt patter.

Agreed .. If you can afford to buy a new SI, you can afford to get the Spare wheel and its associated kit. The Kit is so much more than just the Rim.

I got the Kit, and a decent performance tire to fit. That way I need not worry about driving a longer distance, at speed, with the spare.

Remember, if you have a problem with a FRONT wheel, you should put one of the rear wheel onto the front, and always put the spare onto the back.
You want the two front wheels to match, so you do not put unnecessary wear on the front limited differential.

Your only problem will be what to do with the OEM emergency inflation kit.
(Must be a lot of those, floating about, with no place to go, and no future purpose in life)

There was another post somewhere in the Si forums about a DIY kit. Don't really want to spend the 250 bux for the kit plus shipping (another 150) and a tire. As well times two since my girlfriend and I are both wanting spares.

Doing some research I should be able to use a spare from an Acura TLX, Nissan 350Z-370Z, or an Inifnit G35
