I also want to emphasize this. The very limited evidence linking dilution to stalling is circumstantial. No one has been able to confirm (or deny) a direct link between the two, and whether this is caused by:
  1. A design flaw (and how it happened)
  2. A failure independent of dilution
  3. Something else

Did oil change yesterday at an independent shop that did not know about the recent Civic 1.5L recall in North America.

Oil came out remarkably dark, as expected, when the MM is at 15%.

No smell of gas.

At 55k kms, it's running good.

I only put 3 quarts during oil change and it always rises up past the top fill line so its definitely gasoline

Or water condensation. Here's an informative video

Anyone know if any Civic in the North American market has actually died and been taken into a dealership? 3 years since release is a long time in terms of a time frame for problems to start appearing.

I have heard of CRVs going into dealerships with the engine checklight on.

Has a CivicX ever conked out because oil dilution caused engine damage?

I think the answer is no, but I'm broadcasting my request to get some field observations :D

Man, that guy can do an amazing Jack Sparrow impersonation.

Joking aside, he pretty much says everything myself and others have been saying on these kinds of posts. Good video. Maybe I should just upload a YouTube video too, then people would take me seriously :p

2016 1.5T Touring 36500 miles. Houston so no cold weather and a 40 mile commute.
I change my own oil and always put in 3.7 qts. My last drain was 4.2 quarts so half a quart of gas..
This sounds pretty ridiculous. Also, I've never gotten that much oil out of my engine when doing my oil changes.

Hi I'm in Houston and I think I had oil dilution too. Or I didn't use the dopstdip correctly, which is really hard to see. Did you get your car fixed? Thanks.
