I went there to get hard numbers on what it would cost to trade in my 6 month old 2019 Si coupe with 5,900 miles on it.

The car: 2020 Civic Si coupe in red brand new

Numbers: 2,000 down and an extra $100 per month on my payment. There's a gap between the trade in value and the payoff figure they couldn't work out. Since I just got the car.. The extra $100 on my payment would be to offset the gap. Needless to say I passed on it. I have the money to buy the car if I wanted. Had to make a smart adult decision and walk away though. I'd just be wasting money foolishly for instant gratification. Maybe down the road when the gap evens out or they come up with a fair deal

Someone once said of me ... In a car forum ... Some people go to the library and say ... Where are the books at? You have the diamond in the ruff! I would NEVER trade my 2019 for a 2020. You don't need all the extra bull shit and ... They just tested the 20 car slower than the 19. Just look at your front end ... Full honey comb not distorted. The lights are clean ... Not jumbled up shark fins ... Your stock wheels are stunning! Looking at the brushed aluminum look and then move to the door strip. Your 2019 IS IT ...

The thing about trading in a car that's less than a year old is that you take a massive hit on trade in.

According to Carfax, "data shows that cars can lose more than 10 percent of their value during the first month after you drive off the lot. The amount your car is worth will just keep falling, too.

According to current depreciation rates, the value of a new vehicle can drop by more than 20 percent after the first 12 months of ownership."

You did the smart thing. The hit you would have taken for a car you only owned for 6 months is not worth it, even if you can afford it. Really the difference between the 2019 and 2020 is some cosmetics and gearing. It's not like you would be walking out with 100 more hp. My advice to all those who love your Si, don't have any interest in owning anything else in the near future, it serves your needs...there is no compelling reason to go from one Si to another Si of a newer year. That is unless you broke it

Yeah, but the sad part is the dealer will turn around and sell it very close to what new models are selling for. They will give you $20K for a car you paid $25K and turn around and sell it for $23,500

That sounds like what happened to me when I was ready to purchase a civic the salesperson showed me a 2017 accord coupe with 10 k on it for the same price as a 2018 ( band new) Civic EX-T with seven miles on it
With existing warranty I past on that deal first off it was used second the V6 has a timing belt and third I wanted a Turbocharged car and the civic gets better gas mileage

Thanks bros. Yea thing biggest obstacle is getting out of car that is 6 months old. I would've picked it up for less if I drove in with a ten speed. And for that monthly payment I'd rather be driving an Acura or low end BMW. They did say I got a great deal on my 2019. Which is another reason they couldn't come near the payment. They started out around $150 more per month. Their best deal was just over $100. The car is pretty much spotless and the blue sells. So there's no doubt in my mind they would've put a sticker on it for around 25k.
I'm thinking plan B is a set of rims and k-tuner. I'd pickup the LEDs.. I just don't want to deal with pulling the bumper off and having the beams set properly.

I'm glad you made the right choice but the fact that you even thought about it... Oof.

I can afford to throw $100 out the window every month but it's not a good idea :p

You done good bubby.
Thanks bro! I feel better knowing the right decision was made  The blue is my favorite color in this car. But that red on black 2020 was calling my name. It's a dope whip and it was very tempting :D

You made the right choice. Like you said, maybe make a few key modifications that will bring some more joy to you from your ‘19. Passing by a ‘19 or ‘20 on the highway, you’d be hard pressed to spot the differences.

Thanks bro. Unless an offer I can't refuse pops up in the future.. I can put this rest and make a few key modifications

I like the black because it hides all the plastic fake vents, grill, side mirrors, spoiler underside, etc, better.

Looks so good when it is clean or wet, especially with fresh wax or silica sealant. Only lasts for 30 minutes before it gets dusty again.
