I’ve had my heart set on a CTR, but right now Honda is offering a lease on the Si for $212/mo, less than what I’m paying for my EX.

The CTR is being offered for $511/mo. This makes the Si seem like a fabulous bargain.

Question for the group: is the CTR worth double the payment?

Do the smiles-per-miles add up?

Why is canada so expensive? Don't they make them there as well?

You need to ask yourself is a $48K 4 cylinder Civic worth it?

MSRP of 2018 CTR is $42.8K CAN.
2018 SI is $30K CAN.
Of course, there are additional charges for sales tax (13% for Ontario), PDI, etc.

I don't own an R, I own an Si. For a daily driver, I love the MPG of the Si and the peppiness on the roads. Obviously not the same beast as an R. But, plenty of enjoyment to be had in this car.

I'd get the Si and save $300/month. At no point will you think it's not worth what you are paying monthly for it. But, if you test drive an Si, feel like you'd want a bit more Vrrooom, and don't mind shelling out more each month, pick up the R!

What I "hear" is :

1) You WANT a CTR

2) you can afford an Si.

This is NOT a rational discussion (ie, adding up the smiles per miles) when you want something you can't afford. Its an emotional discussion. Wants vs Needs.. I have that with my kids all the time. If it helps, you have my permission to buy a CTR and the finance guys will let you..

but the two cars are not the same. If you've always wanted a CTR, you've got to suck it up and pay for one. Like many others who started with an Si but wanted the CTR, they eventually either mod the heck out of the Si, or trade it in on a CTR.
