Anyway, those with the 1.5 Turbo, DON'T LET THE DEALER HAVE YOUR CAR RUNNING THE ENGINE WITH THE UPDATE. Some idiot tech do, you will coke it up running the engine in one spot that long. The battery is enough, some dealers will hook up your car to a back up battery on the terminals and then do the update. That is a cool and nice thing to do...
That's what the TSB procedure requires. In the Mk3 Ford Focus, you had no choice but to leave the car running: the car had an accessory timer and would not leave the radio on long enough to complete an update.

It looks like if you have version 1.F184.60 the might not do the update. This is the version I have and I have been problem free so far but I'm curious if the new version has any advantages in terms of responsiveness.
Where does your VIN fit in the list of VINs in the TSB?

I can see your point..but I had an update done to an earlier Honda and the dealer hooked a battery to the battery. I think the time-out can be overwritten in certain cases. I will see when I go in.. thanks

I have this version and I have all the issues on the TSB. OH, anyone with the BT skipping, have bad phone calls too. I do. Choppy phone calls to the max...

Maybe I wasn't clear--the TSB says use a battery charger or a backup battery for the Civic. I don't think the Civic has any auto-shutdown unlike the Focus. But the backup battery/charger just assures that an unknown bad battery won't brick the HU mid-update.

sim sim ala bim.....you the man thanks....

You guys are welcome, I've followed the forum since pre-launch, and realized my access to stuff like this could def help other 10th gen owners who are frustrated like I was. can also confirm what was said earlier, update takes a long time, however,
technician pay is only .3.
Battery charger with accessory mode on is gonna be the way it has to be done
(though that's always the way we've always done software updates) so it was more an anomaly than the norm thank god.

Looking at the vin decoder this TSB only covers cars in the US.
I hadn't noticed your Canadian location. Not surprising. It's an American Honda TSB. Now the Canadian members will have to wait and see how long until this translates to something from Honda of Canada.

I wondered.
The Canadian LX has the same instrument cluster ,audio/infotainment units as the EX
The Canadian LX was missing from the service bulletin.

I called back yesterday before going over to pick up my car and asked about this - they said I was right about the TSB coming out yesterday but that they didn't have the USB drives to actually do the update. Gotta go back presumably next week when they have them.

Warning to all: Just got the heads up guys & gals, this update is huge. WTH...anyway. The infotainment was completely overhauled thats why the wait...a few guinea pigs were needed.

Completely overhauled in what way? Did the actual UI change?

I read the PDF and thought that was actually a depressingly small number of fixes listed. Many of the ones I've experienced aren't there like inconsistent volume management with CarPlay (stuff suddenly being blasting loud, certain calls having no volume because the HU sees it as "guidance volume" with a max volume of 11 rather than the normal phone volume slider, the phone randomly disconnecting after LaneWatch is engaged, the HU screen flashing on and off repeatedly, etc.
