Hi Guys,
My previous car Acura TSX had dimming mirror and garage opener (Home Link), and I like that a lot.
My Civic EX 1.5t does not come with ether one.
So, I got Gentex 313 mirror from ebay under $40 and hardwired to a fuse box.
Gentex mirrors are OEM for a lot of Car makes like Nisan, Toyota, GM.
Same time I wired my Radar detector Escort 9500ix.
Now I got both: dimming mirror and Home Link garage opener.
To tap in the fuse box I used this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015GYN38A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I went with a Liftmaster 895MAX and used double-sided tape - attached it to the black box behind the mirror. Very unobtrusive and $25 if you shop wisely.

Glad it works for you, My car didn't come with OEM dimming mirror. So, have no black box.

With all the features Honda packs into the new Civic you would think they could have put a universal garage door opener in or at least a spring loaded door pocket doohickey like my old Explorer has to hide/operate the opener.

It is not that hard to install it. it is little bigger then OEM mirror, but it does look factory.
You will need Gentex mirror with regular wedge mount.
First, remove map light unit, its two philips screws behind actual light covers.
I ran wires from fuse box thru driver side pillar under rubber seal, under plastic (see pictures) up to the head liner. Fish your wires where light unit is. Wires from mirror up to head liner to map light unit place made all your connections there.
Install map light unit back.
P.S. I ran two wires. One "Power all the time" and One "Accessories". Ground wire I attached to the frame (when you remove light assembly there is two 10mm bolts there on the roof, one on the left and one on the right.) use any one.
Hope it helps.
Here the link on how to remove light cover.:http://www.CivicX.com/forum/26-elec...g/5754-diy-interior-light-change-upgrade.html

The wedge mount is pretty low down on the windshield, so you want to make sure you get a pretty long wire cover to go from the mirror to the head liner.

Mine wasn't long enough, so I just have the lower half, so it doesn't look as professional as it could, but I don't look at it much, so don't care.

The wire is in a harness, so it doesn't look all that sloppy even without the cover.

Edit: if you have Honda Sensing, you probably have a shorter uncovered run of wire since I assume it would go to the pod instead of the head liner.

You can order a replacement part of the picture below with Homelink from an Accord, Odyssey or Pilot and swap with the 16 Civic. There is a YouTube video of College Hills Honda doing a swap on a Honda (not the 16 Civic but pretty much the same). You just have to figure out how to get 12v power to the Homelink. College Hills Honda converted to battery. Easy enough to remove the section to easily change when needed. Thought about it but decided not a critical option for me and opted for a wireless mini remote.
