Rockingham Auto Drops Insurance on Type R

Hi All!

Casey from RVA, Virginia here! So my insurance agent calls me a few minutes ago - recently switched my homeowners, my daily driver, and my 19 Sonic Grey to Rockingham Auto Insurance. They quote $850 for the year and will cover after market parts! (no points, last ticket 4 yrs ago, no accidents) I send them list of parts (per their request) insurance is started for home owners and the daily driver, they never take payment for the CTR... well now - three weeks later they are dropping all three!!! Side note - Hagerty said no out right, didn't even quote with us. Elephant Insurance was/is $1550 a year with no coverage for aftermarket stuff.

Questions -

1) Who do you insurance with?
2) Cost? I totally get this is driver dependent, but also just kinda curios to know what others are paying
3) Do they cover after-market stuff?

I found the type R's insurance to be no different than the base hatchback. I pay about 100/month full coverage in California. They do no cover aftermarket stuff.

I'm with Allstate. Same agent for 30 years. $1830.00 per year including my wife's 2018 HRV.

I have Safety Insurance in Massachusetts. They just look at a CTR as a Civic. Registration here just says Civic too.

Like I wonder how the insurance companies differentiate higher performance versions of cars? Like do they look at the VIN? Wonder if the registration on a Dodge Demon says Demon anywhere?

Same - $353 every 6 months, or $706 annually. Full Coverage. Don't know if they cover aftermarket stuff, doesn't seem necessary for me.

The premium on my Type R is actually cheaper than the premium on my wife's Ford Explorer that is 2 years older.

What is your annual mileage allowance? That's less than what I'd pay for a Miata, but I do live in Cali ...

Yeah, cali is expensive. A lot of these numbers however need to be quantified with mileage though. Cars driven 5k miles a year will get a pretty different premium.
