Repainted (?) Yellow 2017 Si Coupe in California

I randomly came across this in California on Autotrader

Does anyone know the story behind this particular car? It looks like a dealer is selling it, so I don't believe I'd get much from them in terms of how well painted, what exact color it's painted (maybe Phoenix Yellow?), etc.

I'm a giant fan of yellow. My E36 M3 is Dakar Yellow, my Ducati 748 is Ducati Yellow and I sort of want it

It is sprmeboy's car I follow him on IG.

It is painted from what he mentioned. Maybe shoot him a message on Instragram to get more info. He just picked up a Type-R which is probably why the SI is now for sale.

You're aware that colours don't always look the same depending on what camera they were taken with, or what editing has been done, or file compression...

While I do know that colors are hard to make out due to the reasons you listed, remember that Tonic Yellow is a 2019+ color. This car is a 2017 model, so it couldn't have been a color applied at the factory. It has to be a repaint

Seeing as how the SI exterior didn't get refreshed, you two seem extremely confident about the year. I'd say it's more likely that someone fucked up the year as opposed to painting an entire car that ugly ass colour.

Well according to the original owner's IG, it was bought in june 2017 and painted in august 2018.

The every 2nd post in the thread even said it was repainted. Please, just stop making a fool of yourself

He posted a black SI in August 2018 and said "bye" and"I miss you", and the yellow one in September 2018, with no mention of a paint job, after that colour was available from factory. If you want to defend some random internet dude be my guest. I'm not buying his bullshit.

Did you even look at the pictures posted in the add? It clearly has a pre-2019 head unit. Also, one of the pictures show the backup camera in use with its yellow bumper clearly visible...
