So I'm about to buy a 2019 CTR and on the dealerships website it says it has remote start. I've always been told dealerships wont install remote start on MT cars and it having one on a MT confuses me slightly. am i supposed to just remember to put it in neutral when i exit the car and if i dont and remote start it am i asking for trouble?

I had a manual way back when with a CompuStar alarm that did remote start for manual transmissions. It actually wasn't that bad, especially since I'm accustomed to neutral + e-brake when I park. No idea if Honda or whoever's system works similarly but the only risk you ran with CompuStar was if you did everything right, left a window down and somehow you or someone else put the car in gear before starting it back up. Like that would ever happen. But honestly that's the only way it could "fail."

Fortin has a remote start solution that is almost 100% plug and play. Their new version for our manual Civics with push to start button now has the full takeover. So the car won't shutdown as soon as you open the door after it's remote started- you can just get in and go.

there was a CTR owner on the Facebook pages that listed it for sale and it had a Viper alarm system with remote start so I do believe it can be done if you really want it.

Can you give me a feedback on this system? Seems like the more affordable one among the ones I have seen. Does it have reservation mode too? Thanks!

I'm always paranoid when I park. I always leave the car in gear and use the E brake.

I do the same, though it's been said that the CTR's motor compression isn't enough to hold the car on a hill.

I worked with a guy who had remote start on his Acura Type-S. One day at work he was kneeling down and his remote was in his pocket, the remote start button got pushed and he had his car in first gear. Car started up and drove into two other cars in our parking lot. After that I decided not to get remote start on any MT, I have it on my daily driver which is an automatic and no issues there.

I know Viper systems has very tedious ways to arm the remote start requiring you to leave the car with it running then pressing the remote start button. It shuts off the car and arms the remote start while locking the doors. If the doors are unlocked/opened at any point, the remote start disarms.
