I have until August to bring my 2019 Si to the dealer to have my summer tires swapped out with the all season tires. I'm in sunny Florida, and have been happy with the summer tires, so now I face a moral dilemma- do I take the car to the dealer to get my 'free set of tires' and then turn right back around and sell them, and use that money towards a brand new set of tires?

Yeah, I know. It says in the letter they'll keep the original tires.

That said, I could do the tire recall (after owning the car for ~8 months) and then immediately buy a new set of summer tires, and sell the brand new all seasons...

I see it as you having 3 options.
  1. Ignore the recall. "I already replaced the tires".
  2. Go back and have them swap out the tires.
  3. Roast the shit out of those tires with a burnout and then do Option #2.
You owe them nothing. The transaction is complete. It's their fault, not yours.

If it's a recall, then its for a reason that the do not want the liability of you driving with the original tires .. and it must be significant for them to offer free replacements,

The last thing they want are those tires going onto another vehicle, and there being any question of liability that they let the owner keep the "Defective Tires".

You are getting new set of FREE Tires , and getting them fitted as well for free .. so who is being Greedy wanting to keep the old ones as well ??? :dunno:

It is kind of odd. I doing the dealer is selling them to a used tire dealer to recoup $$$. If it's free to you, then they're eating a disposal fee as well. I'd see if the dealer will give you the cost of the replacement towards credit for tires even better than the OEM summers which are good but not great. That option... D... would be what I'd want. Otherwise... I'd probably just keep what I've got.

The letter states the recall is because the tires on the car don't match what was on the sticker. It states it's safe to keep the old ones if I want to. I'm just trying to decide if I want my 'free replacement' tires in order to sell them and use the cash towards a brand new set of summer tires...

Me personally, (since I live in NY where it rains and snows, etc.) I have a natural need for All-seasons. Maybe that’s not needed in Florida and other warmer climate states that’s dont get snow, etc.

If I was in your position, I rock those summers until August and then go cash in on a free set of tires ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
