Link to purchase please....
there are a number of sites that sell these. Selling for about $190 but you can go on eBay and get the a little cheaper maybe but here’s a link from a reputable US hobby dealer. They have red or white. Link is for the white one. I don’t know much about the Mini z cars but assume they are upgradable.

For other vendors just google, “Kyosho Mini z type r” and you see what’s around. Have fun!!!

Yeah the big 1/5 stuff is super impressive but you need like a parking lot to run it. Actually even the 1/10 nitro stuff you need a big area, especially the on road nitro stuff. I have a couple HPi nitro RS4 cara and you run out of real estate fats with those.
The 1/5 th scale I had was electric it was a cheap one I got from hobby king which they don’t make any more parts were hard to get I sold it for what I paid for it now I have 1/10 and 1/8 th cars and 1/16th which is a rock crawler I have 10 cars altogether

that’s cool, I thought most of the 1/5 scale was nitro.
Yeah rock crawlers were interring to me. I started out with a Wheely a king and it got boring just driving it around as it really wasn’t that fast and I was just on a baseball field. But then I took it to an area where there were rocks and mud and grooves made by a truck driving through and found it fun to try to navigate through stuff. The Wheely King isn’t really a rock crawler (open differentials) so moved onto real rock crawlers but more so the scale ones. I used to like to do model cars so the scale ones are cool for me.

Mechanical Speed Control!!!!! Wow, I haven't heard about those in so long! That's a relic! I agree AM/FM radios were so frustrating.

Hi everyone!

Dunno if anyone else is into RC cars. I was looking for an FK8 style RC car and couldn’t find anything but ran into a non licensed body that looks very much like a FK8.

It’s made by Bittydesign and called the HC-F If you look at the hood it has vents vs the hood scoop. The vents look similar to what’s on TCR cars. I picked one up off Amazon but they are available from other vendors. The HC-F fits standard 1/10 scale RC cars with a 260mm wheelbase. There is a shorter wheelbase version called the HC-M that’s 210-225mm wheelbase.

It’s sold as a clear body you paint and has a sticker sheet if you choose to put all the crazy stripes. I’m just doing white with black accents. Comes with window masking sheet.

Amazon even has some red rimmed wheels that look sorta Type R’ish.

I recently took out my HPI Nitro RS4 3 EVO after being in storage for over 10 years. Luckily the engine wasn't seized. I went to my local hobby shop, got some new nitro fuel, charged up my glow plug igniter, and ordered a new battery for my rotostart. I was able to get my nitro R/C car running to my surprise!

I also got a new body shell, and my hobby shop happened to have the Bitty Design Civic Type R just laying on their body shell rack. Bought some paint, and also two sets of TE37 style wheels and decided to re-live my R/C days.

Nice! Sweet job! You finished before me! Glad the engine fired up! Very gratifying to get an old nitro engine started up!!!
I haven’t painted a body in a long time plus I was fidgeting in masking off stuff then got busy with work and stuff so it’s just sitting but soon to restart.

After I got the FK8 body I found a used HPI RS4 Sport 3 (Yes, I only leave home for food shopping and decent Craigslist deals!) and it came with a beat up/crushed 1970 Boss 302 body and figured I would practice on this body since it was messed up. Plus he applied the decals on TOP of the plastic used to protect the body from paint overspray. Had to break out the hair dryer!

When I do model cars and now RC cars I liked to do movie cars or a car I have, thus the FK8. Then I remembered that John Wick had a 1969 Mustang so went with that theme but like the version when he started to smash it up in the second movie. I recycled the 1970 Boss 302 stickers, made a hood scoop and rear wing from plastic I had saved for a rainy day. Found some wrestling figures and found a dude that looked sorta like an angry John Wick and put him in a suit and tie. Added HPI VTA Torque Thrust rims and painted spokes to make it look more like Magnum 500 rims. This was just stuff I had lying around for projects.

Hope to start the FK8 body this week maybe. Hope...

That would be cool! Those 4tecs are really fast! Should fit if it’s a standard 1/10 wheelbase. Not sure about the 4tec but I think off the top of my head the only wheelbase that’s not standard 1/10 is the Kyosho Fazer series. They are a bit longer.

I did get this Mini-Z RC car last week. They only have it in red or white though. Their kits allow you to get the Type R in either FWD or AWD formats.

Sweet! Those are great kits and I certainly like that body! Waiting to see if a used one shows up on Craigslist for less than $100. I know...I’ll be dreaming for a loooong time!

I didn’t realize but there are generic more toy grade versions of the Kyosho Mini-z cars? Found this out a couple months ago when I saw a Mad Max body locally. You might be aware that the some of the bodies for these cars are sold just as body kits with wheels on a dummy chassis. That’s what I thought when I saw the ad for the Mad Max body. But the guy said it had a radio and motor. I was like, “Really???” Especially the price he was charging for the whole deal is less than the price of a body alone.

turns out there are non proportional toy grade chassis that you can get that uses 2 AA batteries. It serves the purpose and plus I don’t have to find a cheap Miniz chassis specifically for this body or adapt one of my XMODS chassis to it. Second pic off the internet.
