Hi guys,

First, this will be somewhat be large post with lots of pictures. Lots of respect if you read the whole thing, but even a vote is helpful. I was going to post this in the wheel/tire section but thought I would get more input here. If it has to be moved I understand.

My wife can attest - I've spent far too much time (hours every night) looking at wheel/tire combos over the last two months and I've finally decided to get some help here. I know that I'll be going with Michelin PS4s in either 265/35/18 275/35/18 or 255/35/19 but I just can't decide on which wheel to go with. A few important points/questions:

1. I will never do any track driving, but I do get plenty of spirited windy road driving and I would like to preserve as much of the cars original driving character/dynamics

2. I don't want to lower the car so I want something that's going to look good without a drop

3. I also want something significantly quieter than the stock wheel/tire combination. I got a pair of Bridgestone WS90s in 225/40/18s on my car now for winter and it's AMAZING how much quieter it is. Will PS4s in 275/35/18 be quieter than PS4s in 255/35/19?

4. I want the wheel to look good on PMM

5. I want to avoid any rubbing. There will be times when I might have a full car of people but I don't think that'll be an issue with any of my picks.

Okay. Here we go. These are some pictures I've collected of the various wheel options from other members on this forum and social media. Some are on PMM and others are not. Some may have a drop, but I've tried to get cars that had stock suspensions to keep the comparison fair.

1. Titan TS5 18 X 9.5 45 offset (Satin Titanium)

Pros: 45 offset is pretty good, super light (forged), look pretty good on stock height
Cons: Not a whole lot - maybe their not as original as some other wheels they've become quite popular?

2. Titan TS5 19 X 9.5 45 offset (Satin Titanium)
Pros: Maybe it fills out whe wheel wells better than the 18s
Cons: Adds at least $5-600 over the cost of the 18s, heavier than the 18s

3. NSX Y Wheels - 19 X 8.5 55 offset Silver):
Pros: Offset closest to stock wheels, pretty light for 19s (forged)
Cons: Not entirely sure I like how they look in silver...think they look better on PMM in powdered black

Cons: Powder coating the wheels will add extra cost

Pros: I think these wheels look pretty awesome and they're more rare which a bonus, light (forged), 45 offset
Cons:Most expensive wheels on the list, also seem harder to acquire, decals can come off easily (I use a pressure washer to wash)

8. Superspeed RF05RR 19 X 9.5 +40:
Pros: By far the cheapest wheel, still quite light as well but they're cast instead of forged, and I think they look quite good
Cons: 40 offset is worst of the group which might affect handling

Besides the wheels themselves I'm quite interested in what you guys think about my tire size quandary. While I think the 18's in 265/35/18s or 275/35/18s will give me a bigger contact patch for traction and around town might provide more resistance against pot holes, I'm worried they'll be more prone to hydroplaning in heavy rain and I'm not sure they'll be more quieter than 255/35/19. If you've made it to the end mad respect. Thanks guys!

I literally have been going through this exact issue until today! Staying up late looking at every wheel.....driving myself AND my wife crazy. In the end I decided to go with TE37 SL’s that System Motorsports had a special ordered batch of that are +45 offset with the same concaved face as the +38 version. With my CTR being Championship White and me tired of the black factory wheels I chose the pressed graphite finish which is a clean looking grey. Something different for sure! I also liked the double pressed black finish that fatherpain just bought! Glad my headache is finally receding! Good luck in your search!

To meet in the middle of all your requirements, I'd suggest 255/40/18 on 18x9.5 TS5 to achieve lightness, wheel protection, handling, and appearance; this setup achieves the closest-to-stock scrub radius on +45 offset. If money is no object, the black NSX wheels look very good with almost stock offset (good for handling) but you'll end up with larger tires and thinner sidewalls. At the end, it's a bunch of compromises that only you can decide. Find the middle ground?

imo:

If budget isn't an issue, get either of the Volks. Double pressed looks good. Not a fan personally of the Regas. Seems like a lot of people have issues with their stickers falling off.

If budget is an issue, get the Titans. If you dont care about styling or brands, check out Apex wheel's new forged lineup (no CTR fitment yet).

If you want to maintain all Honda/OEM, NSX wheels. Might be able to find a used set at a good price too.

I've also been on the lookout for wheel deals and have a short list of wheels I like. Prob wont need wheels though for another year as I just put on some newish Contis.

I thought a lot about doing a 40 series tire but wondered if that would cause too much flex/roll. I know my WS90s roll quite a bit but they’re made for winter. Perhaps the PS4s tires would have a stiffer sidewall so they wouldn’t pitch and roll as much in a 40 series size? I feel like 275/35/18 are also pretty close to the stock radius. Will a time that wide not turn in as a nicely as a 255/40/18?

If money wasn’t an issue I say go for the RegaMasters. Very rare and look amazing on the 10gens, also my personal favourite wheel of all time. Its hard to stick out in group of civics so why not be different and get the super rare and expensive wheels so at least your car is more unique than the others.

Best thing about buying any wheels is there is an amazing amount of different choices. Everyone has their own opinions and reasons for whatever wheel they choose. Be YOU and do what makes YOU happy. Last I checked nobody is buying wheels for you so your opinion is the only one that matters in the end of the day!

TL;DR

You really shouldn’t have other people making personalized decisions for you. Every wheel you chose is a good wheel. Choose the prettiest one and move on.

You’re also at stock ride height. Rubbing will never be an issue- not because of the ride height, but because you chose wheel offsets that aren’t aggressive. This shouldn’t be a concern.

Tires are personal preference also. You need to try different tires. What’s noisy to you may not bother someone else. What corners well for you might be shit for someone else. No one can make these decisions for you. How do you know a driver rating a tire drives anything like you do? Even reading tire reviews is a best guess until you try them.

To me it seems the bigger issue is budget- you don’t want to drop 4500 bucks on the wrong setup and be unhappy with it. Totally understandable. Your best bet is to buy used wheels in great shape to bring down the financial damage. Even better if they come with tires you’re interested in. That way even if they’re not the right ones for you, you can sell them at near no loss (initial depreciation was taken by the original owner). Or you just make do with nice wheels that meet 80% of your expectations at a lower entry point than buying brand new.

I agree. This is the first time I’ve had a vehicle where l’m buying aftermarket wheels and there are soooo many options and I’m just having had a really hard time making up my mind.

It is DEFINITELY mind-boggling choosing wheels for this car. This is no joke... I have been pontificating what wheel I would want on this car since this car was first announced....I didn't even own one until this past May!! My wife and kids were so sick of hearing me ask their opinions about wheels. I honestly think that they are more happy I FINALLY bought something so they don't have to deal with my BS anymore!
