Hey guys new member here , got a 2016 civic LX with a 2.0 and a six speed . Let my rear brake pads get down to metal , replacing them now. Wound the piston all the way in (felt it bottom out) but the Caliper will not fit over the new pads/rotor . Just wondering if the parts I got from Honda are correct or not. Or is it possible the piston over extended and is not fully retracting back? I have to drive this thing across the country soon just hoping I don’t need a set of Calipers already . 75000km

Did you remove the electric parking brake actuator and wind it back that way?

According to the service manual, you need to remove the electronic parking brake actuator and wind the piston back with an E11 Torx socket.

Hey there, I have a 2018 Honda Civic like the vehicle mentioned above. Went to replace the rear pads, got up to the piston compression stage. I had read ahead of time, that you can't just compress them. I happened to find a spanner wrench that barely fits the grooves, got it spun it until it stopped. But I believe as mentioned above, it did not compress in all the way, so I was unable to install it on the new pads. Unclear how to unplug the EPB (the harness at the caliper), I just really don't want to spend almost $600 on a job that I am 90% sure I can do. Also, mine had the parking brake disengaged as well. Any further instruction on how to unplug the EPB would be appreciated, Thanks!

This is a pretty decent video on rear EPB brakes.
