There is quite a few beginner modders on here i see. Well a straight piped catless down pipe is going to give you the best flow directly from the turbo freeing up a lot of power that is cut back on from emissions control. If you live somewhere that you have to take your car somewhere to pass emmisions you either need to be ready to swap back to stock each year or go with a high flow pre cat model. It should aid in passing emmisions but you wont release as much power from the engine as you would with a free flowing pipe from the turbo.

Regardless I cant wait to hear someone with this down pipe and a fully custom exhaust.

Will it be a direct bolt up to the Invidia N1 exhaust?? Does Hondata have a plan to remove the CEL light for the non cat version??

From what's been announced so far(a lot of heresay on my part, read it everywhere but never from hondata themselves yet), no they do not have plans to do so.

The front pipe and downpipe combo is finally finished up and ready to test. We will be installing the catted version onto our CVT shop car to test results. In the meantime, our the catless version will be heading to Vit for testing on his 6MT car, followed by the catted version as well.

We also started to dive into another project...

We caught wind that the SI will share the same turbocharger as the CRV, so we had one overnighted to gather some data and begin testing. The specs are as follows...

Civic Turbo:
  • Compressor Wheel - Split 6 Blade with 39.1mm Inducer and 46.0mm Exducer
  • Turbine Wheel - 11 Blade with 37.1mm Inducer and 32.3mm Exducer
CRV Turbo:
  • Compressor Wheel - Same Exact Specs as the Civic's
  • Turbine Wheel - 9 blade with 37.1mm Inducer and 33.3mm Exducer
The CRV/Si's 1mm larger, 9 blade turbine wheel explains why the CR-V (and most-likely the Si) are rated about 20 hp/tq higher. All flanges, flange locations etc are identical, so yes our downpipe assembly will work. Stay tuned, we have some tricks up our sleeves ;)

CR-V/Si turbochargers are available on our website!

Tried to look through...what exactly does this add to car?
Larger diameter exhaust tubing, less restriction, etc, meaning more horsepower and torque.

Will it be a direct bolt up to the Invidia N1 exhaust?? Does Hondata have a plan to remove the CEL light for the non cat version??
Yes, this will bolt right up to an aftermarket exhaust. No, Hondata does not plan on doing so.

From what's been announced so far(a lot of heresay on my part, read it everywhere but never from hondata themselves yet), no they do not have plans to do so.
Correct, from what was said at the Seminar, they are looking to gain a CARB approval and offer flashed maps that aid in power gains and fuel economy.

I hate the fact that Hondata does not plan on removing the CEL! I guess Catted version it is!

So, we finally got around to testing the catted version on our CVT shop car. The results were rather impressive!

Listed below is a dyno graph depicting a bone stock 1.5T CVT dyno without a flash (blue line), the same car with our catted downpipe and front pipe (red line), and the same car with our catted downpipe, front pipe and Hondata's +6 PSI reflash (green line). Peak torque came in about 400 RPM sooner than with the factory cat and the car picked up massive amounts of bottom end power, over 40 whp and 50 ft/lbs of tq to be exact, at about 4300 RPM. Peak gains were 10 whp and 14 ft/lbs tq while these gains held true throughout the entire power-band, with over 20 ft/lbs tq gains up top.

We initially expected similar gains from the catless version, but these catted results blew us out of the water. We can't wait to see what sort of gains we will see from the catless version once Vit tests both versions on his 6MT car.

Catted Downpipe + Front Pipe Gains WITHOUT Tuning:
  • 400 RPM increase in peak torque
  • 40+ hp and 50+ ft/lbs tq down low
  • 10 hp and 14 ft/lbs tq at peak
  • 10 hp and 14-20+ ft/lbs tq throughout mid-range/top

Wow, very impressive gains, gentlemen. You, Hondata & Vitune are really extracting the true potential of the 1.5T engine. Well done!

I imagine the 6MT with the CR-V/Si turbo is going to be a real gem!

Do you mean gains without custom tuning? Because aren't those +40/+50 gains WITH hondatas included +6psi flash?
