I use a Comet 1700 pressure washer. Abit more expensive than the regular ones but works great. Followed one of the reviewers suggestion to mod it and added an aftermarket foam cannon, Kobrajet hose and MTM SGS28 and PF22.....Picked up the coxreel also but so far haven’t needed to use it...so that part was a waste

https://www.amazon.com/Comet-Electr...566622736&s=gateway&sprefix=comet+1700&sr=8-3

The place I got my PFF and Ceramic claim all I need to do is foam and rinse. No need to touch.. I call BS or I’m doing something wrong, lol

I let the pre-rinse and foam sit in there a good amount and it still requires a soft hand mitt (2) bucket method.

For just washing my CTR I bough the MATCC foam cannon and the Track life 1600 PSI pressure washer. It's the size of a large purse, so really easy to move, or drag around in my case.
Rinse, foam (wait 5 minutes) wash with high quality wash mitt and rinse. I use Zaino products
to wax and seal my paint. Company is driven by chemists and not the bean counters.
FYI my CTR is black, lots of fun keeping it looking nice

Currently have a SunJoe SPX3000 outfitted with an upgraded Kobrajet hose and MTM quick disconnect gun and wand. I use the MTM PF22 foam cannon with the small orifice (I think it's 1.1mm) because the SPX has such low flow. I uses Adam's (blue) car soap and the two bucket wash method with a Microfiber Madness Incredipad XL. Rinse, Foam, Wash, Dry. I dry with an EGO cordless blower then comeback with P&S Beadmaker as my drying aid or topper.

FWIW - My two cents

Before you start - get minimal eye protection. I once dropped a bucket of restaurant grade soap which splashed in one of my eyes causing permanent damage. Consider breathing masks too.
https://www.amazon.com/Protective-Glasses-INDUSTRIAL-STRENGTH-Anti-Fog/dp/B01MSEDJUC

I followed the instructions in this goofy guy's very helpful touchfree washing video but bought the cheaper products:
- Note: You will always have to scrub off the bugs, however the key for a good touch free wash is to let the soap sit for 10min and dry immediately after the final rinse

I bought this pressure washer for $58 via kinja deals
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PSQ4X2W

Foam Cannon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CE78VO8

Soap for the foam cannon. This soap is recommended by simonize - the glass coat manufacturer
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TPW5YM

Spray on wax also recommended by simonize - applies a minimal post wash shine
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y5KQSKF

Dryer (dry immediately after rinse off to avoid soap stain) don't drive and dry
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H8TVGR9
Acid Free Wheel Cleaner
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FADI37E

Spray Bottles for the Wheel Cleaner - no leaks!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LGP82YG

All Plastic Wheel Brush - much cheaper than the well known Wheel Woolies
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FADI37E

Microfiber cloths and glove

just careful if you get a pressure washer, there's a dude who washed too close and tore into the paint, DAMN!

Agreed - I took off a bit of paint on my deck with it. The pressure washer is only required for the foam cannon - not the pre and post rinse.

Using an appropriate electric pressure washer, an appropriate tip, and standing at least 18 inches away and there should be no problem with the pressure washer stripping paint

I typically don’t rinse before I start foaming but maybe I should after seeing everyone’s routine here

I feel like rinsing before washing gets any loose contaminants off the surface. This way I don't rub anything extra on the surface during the wash process. I don't rinse the foam, I go straight to washing. The soap/foam is only for lubrication...it really doesn't break anything down (depending on your soap I guess, but mine doesn't) so no point in letting it dwell then rinsing it. All the work is done during the actual wash. I rinse, foam then go straight to my two bucket wash.

Gotcha

I used to go straight to foaming and then into the two bucket wash, I guess it doesn't add too much time to lightly rinse before I get started. I had always assumed the foam process would be getting loose contaminants off the surface

Here is my input, buy a pressure washer (gas preferred) or a Kranzle which is the best IMO but $$$ I personally dont recommend Sun Joe for two reasons: 1. Mine lasted 2 weeks before it broke and 2. they use non standard connections so if you want to replace hoses, nozzles ect you have to get adapters which is a pain in the ass.
I use a gas powered Ryobi, has a Honda engine, got it at home depot, its a 3000 psi power washer and it is awesome. Starts every time with one pull.

As far as a power washer damaging paint, read/watch this link: http://www.carcleaningguru.com/why-pressure-washers-dont-damage-paintwork/
As long as you use a 40* tip you wont have a problem especially on a new car.
For further info:
Watch this guy on you tube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3W4jRH8JVqnBDE4Wo8KdAg and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVlOAVbs8QbHMmKdVWTleaQ

Depending on your budget, I strongly recommend this canon:
MTM Hydro PF22 Professional Foam Lance: https://www.amazon.com/MTM-Hydro-Pr...m+canon&qid=1567121586&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr2
the rest are junk IMO.
Also, get this handle if you can https://www.amazon.com/MTM-Hydro-SG...PQ7K282MW3S&psc=1&refRID=7GMNC70ZEPQ7K282MW3S
No leaks ever, works great and amazing quality.

What would you consider an appropriate tip? Can you post a link? Thanks.

One link I forgot, Leaf Blower, look for anything that has an output of at least 600 CFM unless you want to sit around drying the car all day long. I use this, its cheap, blows at 600 CFM, is lightweight and will dry my car in 5 min, though mine is ceramic coated. WORX WG520 Turbine 600 Electric Leaf Blower, Black
