So a higher offset, say 45 vs 35 will move the wheel further in or out?
+45 is farther inside the wheel well, +35 moves it 10 mm out

Okay, got it now, thanks!
I think your car stock is +45 so if you buy wheels with +45 they will be where there are now

Yep, +45. So if I get a rim 1 inch wider, with +45, the extra inch will just go to the inside, great!

No. Half inch goes inside and another half out. Centerline remains on the same distance from the hub.
Oh, that's different.
Maybe dallas was talking about using the same width rim, but if I was going to get new wheels, I'd certainly get wider than the stock 7" width.

Forgive the dirty car as it rains constantly here on the coast. F1r F29 wheels 18x9.5 245/40/18 40 offset. Now just need to bag or lower

Wow you can really see how much of a monster truck these cars are in these photos that wheel gap is crazy
I have to disagree. It's really not that bad, and there is much worse wheel gap out there than whats on the Civicx. Wile I would like to drop mine a bit, It's not to the point of driving me crazy.

I have to agree. My sedan's is really bad, especially in the back. I've parked on the same lot with other Civic X sedan's and the wheel gap on my back tires seems a bit worse than the other gen X's. Sucks.

You have to realize, the car was up on a lift changing wheels and doing oil change. It eventually dropped down quite a bit.
