I got sent this picture from a friend of a friend. Apparently it was taken at Newark airport. While I don't believe it I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this picture before.

That's a 9th Gen Euro Spec, not 10th. Nice car nonetheless.

Crazy. I live literally less than 20 minutes away. I wonder where that Type R is heading?

I would imagine(if the picture is legit) that they would be bringing it over to do ride comparison testing with the US model Type R on actual US roads to help them better calibrate the suspension tuning to us "softies"

a google image reverse showed the picture only one other place. some performance shop in Canada posted the picture saying its an inbound vehicle for them but haven't posted anything else. I'd imagine if I ran a shop in north America I'd post more than one picture.

Hope so since that would mean more prototype spottings. Only one spotted so far was on the nurburgring.
Or maybe it's being brought over for publicity purposes to help launch the 2016 model at an autoshow?

So the new Type R prototype hasn't been seen anywhere in the US yet?

No, the only confirmed sighting of the prototype was the one from the Nurburgring recently - http://www.civicx.com/threads/first-look-at-2017-civic-type-r-hatchback-prototype.350/

We'll see prototypes show up here eventually since I imagine US will be a big market for this car so they'll want to get the engineering right for our roads and conditions. Europe and the Nurburgring doesn't present the conditions we usually have here (i.e. crappy roads :))

I saw one in person Tuesday and Wednesday. WOW it was great looking! The size of the front discs surprised me. The interior looked tight fitting but more than enough space for me to be happy. The front seats reminded me of seats from the EP3. Actually has me rethinking whether or not a Si will leave me satisfied or not. Walked around it for like fifteen minutes just taking it in. A few aero details that I had not noticed from the pics we have seen so far might be a bit boy racer to some but for me as long as they are functional I am ok with it because as a whole it works looks wise. Another striking feature is overall size does not seem to be much bigger than my EP3.

Looks like the car is here to serve its halo car duties. Would be convenient to keep it in the country to benchmark against when testing and developing the 2017/2018 Civic Type R prototypes.

I'm sure they have a few of them at the R&D facility here in Ohio that they will use to compare with the 10th gen model
