So I was just looking around on car review sites and saw the new Acura ILX has an 8Speed DCT very similar to the 10speed in the accord 2.0t. Out of curiosity since the Civic CVT is literally a handgrenade when upgrading the car could you potentially swap the ILX trans into the Civic mounted to the L15b7?

Good luck with that. ;)

BTW, DCT's have their issues too.

thanks for the response it seems there really is just no getting around the CVT and what issues do the DCTs have?

DCT's definitely shift fast and that's what they are known for. They also tend to be a bit jerky at low speed and in stop and go traffic. Also, in your case, I just don't think a swap is realistic and certainly not cost effective.

Btw... my CVT works great with the 21psi KTuner tune I run. No complaints.

The Acura 8spd DCT is unique in that it has a torque converter which helps with crawling around. On most DCTs apparently just inching forward is akin to riding the clutch pedal in a manual.

I’ve driven the ILX quite a bit and it’s not a bad transmission, but it sometimes seems like it downshifts rough and idles really low which makes the car vibrate when stopped.
