Has anyone tried blocking the rad to improve winter mileage?
My mileage improves about 35% in summer driving.
Thanks, Rick.

Poor winter mileage is due to the use of winter formula gas and other factors like the car taking longer to warm up during short drives in extreme cold. It's not just this car, it’s all cars.

I close off most of the grille in winter. The main benefit that I noticed was that the car warmed up faster and I got heat sooner. I didn't measure how mileage was affected, but with the car warming up more quickly, I'm sure it was improved.

Most of your summer to winter efficiency difference will be caused by fuel differences, less rolling resistance in summer, and quicker warmup times.
