:agree: :D hence the 255s for me
One thing I enjoyed about FS was the lack of a tire war. Basically everyone was on RE71R. Took one less thing to worry about every weekend! Even if the BFG does come out id probably still sticksk with the RE71R. Main reason is up here we basically get three seasons of autoX on three months. cold, wet, hot.. the Bridgestone works in them all.

I don't think we are going to do as well in DS as we were in GS but BFG actually turns out to be the cheaper option just because of the contingencies we were able to collect. Paying out in tires is pretty sweet...FWIW we also tested a lot in 2017 and while both of us noticed the less responsive nature of the tire we can drive around it and also tune for it in pressure and shock settings...Not as many knobs to turn on the CTR atm doe...

The tires also are a bit more forgiving in drop-off past the peak while works well for the nose heavy GS cars that overworks the fronts, and seems to like concrete which tend to be important.

Good thing not every event is like the PittRace Match Tour running in the 40s and in the wet though. BFGs are basically useless

I’ve tried both 265 and 275 RE71s, and didn’t notice a difference between them. BFGs run a bit wider, but they also have a softer sidewall than RE71s, so I’m curious to see how easy it is to mount them...

The BFG guy at Nats said 4th qtr last year and that obviously didn't happen. The recent words were apparent from their dealer conference that it should be out Feb....I guess we'll see...

Peter Calhoun who was the BFG rep I talked to at Nats said they've been pushing for it to come out since 275 and 305(I think) 19s were the common FS pony car sizes. And when I mentioned that the Civic can probably use the 275 also he said that was news to him but its a good news.

My conversations with those in the know suggest they will come in the next 6 weeks. Patience is a virtue.

no rush to order tires with this cold! That said... I still might go RE71r. Funds permitting I might test both.

our season will be completed early april :(
I guess I don't understand why you don't autocross year around. We don't because we do icecross/snowcross, hibernate, those types of things.

Stupid question, are you all talking about the tire size for the RE71rs on the stock 20’ wheels, or on one of the few DS eligible 19’ wheels out there.

I am considering the RE71rs for this upcoming season, and am debating whether to get a dedicated set of 19s or try to find something that fits the 20s.

I know they offer the RE71rs in larger sizes for the 20s, but I wasn’t sure about fitment, looks or other impacts relating to increasing the wheel diameter.

For more varied increments and options, and likely less cost and mounting headaches 19 is probably better option...
