Yeah, NA snow belt might not get enough complaints for Honda to move.
I think they should apply the fix to all cars using this engine. Who knows what problems might bring once out of warranty.

Hopefully you will notice the gas smell before it causes damage. It happened on my tractor mower and I was able to smell the gasoline immediately.

Sure I'll keep an eye on it. Thing is, will they fix it based on a recall issued for another market?

Probably not. These recalls are not free, and if Honda can get away with doing nothing that's the preferred method. Sort of like a "don't ask, don't tell" approach.

I will be racalled in march but i want to wait and see how the other cars react to the ECU update first, to make sure it doesn't slow the car down. i don't want to loose power and since i will change oil at 5000km intervals as required by honda I will not have much fuel in my oil anyway.

Thanks for chiming in. Very interested in finding out if the reflash will affect performance.

Will keep a close eye and make some noise(not really expecting much).
I see you are in Arizona and thought this is more of a cold environment issue. Are you idling it a lot?

I drive my car to work and back and its a 40 mile round trip. There should be no gas smell coming from the oil. I am dropping my car off at Honda to have them do a oil analysis and check a few other things.

Honda could not do anything about the smell of the gas.

I will be changing the oil this weekend and dropping of a 4oz of oil for analysis and sending my results to Honda.

They stated that they are seeing fuel in the oil in lower temp climates.

We will see what the analysis concludes
