5,100 miles total on my Si and MM says 40%. I drive on the highway to work daily in it, with a bit of aggressive acceleration at least once.

It's all about driving styles. Drive all long highway trips? Your oil change interval will be big. Drive short trips where the engine barely warms up or do tons of city stop and go? Your interval will be small. It's that simple.

I only drive 9 miles back and forth to work. Probably 40% of it stop and go. My first oil change was at 4800 miles. MM was at 15%.

3,8XX @ 40%. Gonna wait till I hit about 15% until I schedule my first oil change. Work is about 6.5 miles, 40% of it is highway.

These motors are also letting a lot of gas into the oil. From what I am told from other brands, that shouldn't be happening on a DI motor. I'm wondering if this is going to create a lot of issues down the road on the 1.5?
I am actually having to get my motor completely replaced as the oil became so runny parts started to rub and caused a fair amount of damage.

Wow, that is a neat trick. Is it covered under warranty? How many miles on the engine? What were the symptoms?

Trick? No trick, just horrible noise.

Yes it is covered under warranty.

I had only 7400km on it and it was only 10 days from being 1 year old.

Here are some pictures of the damaged area and open engine. Their was rubbing on the bracket as it was not able to become properly lubricated. It caused metal dust fragments to scatter throughout the oil and thus the engine.

There must be something else to this. Either no oil in the engine or manufacturing error. There's no way oil will shear/get diluted in one week worth of driving. Sorry, I don't buy it

Oh I don't disagree at all with either of you, there is clearly a malfunction somewhere. I posted all that info as someone was curious as to the damage that was done. I do not think that everyday driving would have caused this if all the parts were in proper working order.

I was told that during the dealerships testing, they changed the oil again and drove it for about 30km. they then checked the oil and it was runny again. They could not explain to me what was causing it and decided to just pull the plug on that engine and toss in a new one. I haven't had my car for about a month, hope to get it back within the next week or so.
